Reflecting on this past year - I have not worked hard at all. Short days, no weekends, really easy work and getting praised for it... tons of wfh and vacation. Is it time for a new challenge?

My co has unlimited PTO. I took time off this summer and taking time in the fall, 7-8 days each. A younger coworker keeps talking about them in mtgs. Do I tell him to back off or just ignore him?

I’m leaving my current job and immediately starting a new one. I’m essentially maxing out my current 401k (just shy of 19k/ yr) and will definitely at my next one. When I leave, I will get a big PTO payout and I assume extra will go into my current 401k. I’m going to roll that over and then max out my new employer (the full 19.5k in 10.5 months). I assume when I do my 2021 taxes I will have an excess contribution? What will happen then? Will I have to pull money back out? Or will it matter?

Interviewing for another job. How do I finagle getting the time off with out looking suspicious in my current job? I hate lying and there are only so many “last minute appointments” one would have.

Any advice on how to actually take PTO? Every time I’ve tried, I get booked on a client and told I’ll need to work through my PTO. I have literally taken 2 days of PTO the entire year. I keep scheduling well in advance and at times when there is nothing on my schedule close to the requested PTO (so shouldn’t end up with runoff work). I even tried telling them the moment I noticed I was scheduled during PTO. They tell me to cancel because I’ll have time for it later. I’m now booked through 12/31

Do any of you work in a different country than your company is based? I would love to eventually work internationally (based in the USA), ideally remote, but I’m not sure how realistic it is for most people

Also unfortunately I don’t code so a programming jobs are out of the question, and I know many of those jobs are easily worked remote/internationally

REFUSE TO RETURN TO THE OFFICE (unless you really want to)!

Despite proving ourselves as more than capable of WFH, agencies will try to force us back to the old ways. Do not budge. If enough of us refuse, they must accept a hybrid model.

Hybrid models are supported by the same finance jerks who gave us open offices and hotdesking. They also know hiring new talent is expensive—pointless even, if most of the labor force demands WFH. We have the upper hand here.

Agencies need to adapt, not us.

My husband and I have been fighting so much. I am resentful of him bc I don’t feel like he does enough around the house or for the kids. He thinks he does more than plenty. I WFH and he is jealous of that. He works outside the home but has an easier job so lots of more freedom to do what he needs to do. I don’t know what to do. We have been so mean to eachother and it’s really impacting our family dynamic. I also resent that i make more so pay for more like all the groceries, takeout, kids tbc
