“Once parents start acknowledging their child-care obligations openly, the need for specific changes may become apparent. For example, little kids go to sleep early. The hours between, say, 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. are really central for parents. What if they spoke up about that more? Employers might then see the benefit of making clear to parents that they needn’t fulfill their work obligations within the confines of a traditional day. Many of us would be happy to log on before our kids are up or after they are in bed. For me, a phone call at 8:15 p.m. is infinitely better than a meeting at 6 p.m. Openness about, say, sickness would also force employers to confront that even the best-laid child-care plans break down. Parents should have the flexibility to (occasionally) have a kid in their office or, better yet, be given access to emergency child care."

Didn't relate to the environment described in this article at all. I take that as a good sign.

I think not talking about your kids at work is specific to certain very... intensive workplaces. I talk about my kids. It's humanizing and it's something I have in common with some of my co-workers. I have a picture of them on my desk. I'm comfortable saying I'm out for a sick kid. Not saying she's not accurately self reporting, but I'm sure there are people who would say their colleagues talk about their kids all the time and they feel left out.

I left my last job in part because I just couldn't put in the volume of hours I was supposed to bill, plus non billable work, plus socializing that I felt expected to do, plus additional requirements for promotion. Like, honestly, it wasn't even about the scheduling -- I didn't want to put in an additional couple hours of work after my kids were in bed on more than the rare occasion. I respect people who do and who make their teams more family friendly. But I'm in a job now that's 40 hours a week and it is great.

Ive just started on a new project after returning from maternity leave and my new manager does not want to speak of his two kids & obviously didnt want me to talk about my baby... He just wants to talk about the latest netflix shows & pop culture.... i have a few colleagues who say their male managers are the same.
Maybe he just wants an escape from constantly thinking of his babies, but while ill try not to talk too much of my baby I am not going to be acting as though my weekends arent filled with picnics and walks with my baby.

Less mcqs and more sims. I like sims better for far than mcqs for some reason. While the opposite for audit since it's more subjective. Plus the 15 minute break is nice. Took 12 minutes to drink use the bathroom and just clear my mind before hitting the home stretch. But do expect from DRS sims. I got 3! But I don't find those hard, just very time consuming since the overwhelming amount of info they throw at you.

Hey moms,
How do you usually split up work after a baby with partner?
We’ll have parent’s support for a good long time and I know that might mean we could slack and then rudely be awakened by reality after they leave in a few months. So want to make sure both husband and I are part of it right from the beginning. E.g: should I be thinking of asking the husband to get into the habit of putting baby to sleep every night? Etc.

Caught up today with college BFF. We are both highly educated, historically super ambitious/driven, have “impressive jobs.” But we are both now mid 30s with young kids and completely demotivated at work despite having interesting jobs. Is this a phase? Is this “natural”? Is it because of too much sleep deprivation from babies? Anyone experienced this but got out of the rut? I want to feel excited about work again, not just going thru the motions for a paycheck

Moms who have successfully weaned, was there any fluctuations in your weight or blood glucose levels during weaning process? I did not gain any weight during pregnancy but gained around 10 pounds during breastfeeding period (1 year) and now as I am trying to wean, I am noticing a lot of fluctuations in my weight.
