WOULD A DRINK HELP?
By going back in our own drinking histories, we could show that years before we realized it we were out of control, that our drinking even then was no mere habit, that it was indeed the beginning of a fatal progression.

Do you have an AA community? There is a raft of people to help hold you up while you get your head above water. I am new to the program and am amazed at the support.
Here is an app to find meetings around you:

Rooting for you! The first step is acknowledging the issue so you are there!
This could have been me 4 months ago.
I am in a much better spot now. I got a psychiatrist referral from my PCP who signed my paperwork for a paid medical leave of absence and got me enrolled in an intensive outpatient therapy program that meets virtually 10 hours a week.
Do you have a sponsor? Call an outpatient clinic and make an appt. Or detox.
If it is THAT serious -- suicidal thoughts etc-- do NOT hesitate to check out your closest mental health services. A stay in a hospital or in-patient treatment may save your life. This disease is no joke. I have lost people to addiction and suicide. YOU and all you loved ones do not deserve that fate. Do whatever it takes to save yourself!!!

Depending on the severity:
1. Call 911 (or have someone you trust who is sober) so you can detox at a hospital; they can help arrange the next steps.
2. If you can sober up, work with your employer and EAP to organize a rehab stay (ideally a 12-step based version)
3. Go to the link below and find the closest AA meeting. Call the number for inter group and someone can talk you through the process of finding a meeting.
Whatever you do, don’t drive drunk or make a permanent decision to what is currently a temporary feeling. There is hope, and recovery is possible. ❤️🩹
