Where are all my ESG and CSR folks? Apparently the economic slowdown from covid 19 has caused emissions to slow down incredibly.
HR professionals- are you requiring a negative test before any employees return to work after COVID? Some had very mild symptoms and one was asymptomatic. I’ve read not to push for a Dr.’s note and some people can still be positive yet not contagious. Right now I’m following the cdc guidelines of 10 days from first symptom, fever free for 24 hrs and improvement of symptoms.
Been on a long year+ freelance contract at an agency. Took a much lower hourly rate with the promise of converting to FT staff after 3 months. Due to Covid that timing got pushed (understandably) but I recently learned the FT role is not available until 2022 earliest. Got a new freelance offer after 1 day of reaching out at my regular day rate. What to do?
Has anyone taken an unpaid leave on H1b without leaving the country? I am just really burnt out with work, kids and taking care of my wife who is recovering from a severe case of covid. Would love to not work for a month. She is on H4.
What's a very memorable or engaging networking event you attended? What made it so great (could be something from pre covid times too or from the present new norm if virtual)!
For those in the same boat, any advice on having more positivity when having long hours on back to back busy projects while WFH? Don’t like but am ok with traditional in office busy season because it’s a defined length during the cold months and have had time to see friends on weekend nights. Now with Covid and way more work and cold months upcoming/limiting in person socialization looking for ways not to be as down on the constant working
Met with my boss today and was told “well you’re way better at your job than we expected...so keep doing that and just that. We might be able to have some more interesting work for you to do in 2-3 years”. Meanwhile...I am BORED TO TEARS!!!!!! And it’s tempting to quit, but I make more money than both of my parents combined EVER have, we had zero layoffs during COVID, and I really do love the people. At the end of the day...I guess I’m just hear to vent and to see if I’m the ONLY one.
New England Friends: we are a couple in early 30s (No kids yet and a small dog) planning to move to New England from Chicago. Our options are Hartford, CT and Boston, MA. Below are few considerations - 1. SO does not need to travel and will commute to work and I might need to travel when COVID is over. 2. Will prefer a dog friendly neighbourhood. 3. Both are from Midwest so winter does not bother us. 4. Planning to sell our condo in Chi and buy a SFH in the location. Any recommendations?
What would you do, if anything? A coworker with confirmed COVID19 results (asymptomatic, only lost sense of smell) refuses to wear a mask and continues to go out, even sends her toddler to daycare.
What are big firms like MBB / Big 4 doing to keep employees (especially junior level) engaged and motivated during COVID? In your opinion, is it working?
Do any real people actually want schools to reopen as it stands now? Im hearing so much about it but it feels like a weird disconnected political thing and not a live humans with kids thing. *Obv the goal is to get covid under control so kids can go back safely, this is assuming infection rates stay steady or continue to climb
Do you resign over email to HR/Coach or is a phone call more preferable in these Covid times?
The truth about how covid started
Looking for a few positive & current questions/brian teasers to engage a large group (e.g., pet adoptions have increased by X percent this March compared to last in the wake of WFH due to covid-19)
ZS fish - What do you expect travel to be like after offices open? (I.e. similar to pre-Covid when it was minimal/local?)
I am so grateful to have a job right now but I am really struggling. I’ve been at D for a little under a year and have been really unhappy with my experience. In particular, my current project and my direct supervisor make me feel unbelievably incompetent and under appreciated. Given COVID, there is little flexibility to roll off. I’ve tried to stick it through but I’m at a breaking point. Any suggestions on how to make the best of it? Or next steps?
I was due for a promotion but then covid hit, and during the peak of layoffs/furloughs, I was given the run-around that we have agency wide promotion freezes, etc. Over the past month, a handful of people have been promoted. I know everyone's situation is different but I can't help feeling snubbed. How do I know whether they are genuinely trying to promote me and can't, versus them stringing me along for as long as possible? I dont want it to come to having to bring another offer to the table..
Fishbowl = Coronavirus Work-life
Moving to NYC next year, and my SO is based in Seattle. He is very keen to spend more time with me in NYC, even suggesting living there while remote working is still a thing. I’m a little hesitant bc we’ve only been dating for 2-3 months and it would feel like moving in tgt. Also not sure if i should be looking for a studio or 1br for more space but at a much higher price tag that i have to pay for. Any thoughts?
I am currently in consulting with 3 years of experience - currently a Senior; 1 year previously in industry. What is the optimal number of years to stay in consulting? 3? 4? Or suck it up and stay till 5? I ask because I’ve been all over the gamut of recruiting from associate to senior associate roles for interviewing….
Trying to figure out how to manage health issues and work balance. I just recently found out I might have herpes (waiting for the test results to come back) and I have been very and feeling like my life is over especially because it came from being cheated on and struggling with prioritizing my bandwidth and not knowing how to communicate it with my team. Due to stigmas around something as common as herpes I cannot comfortably share that with my team.
401k or Roth ira which is better
H1b wasn’t picked after MBA and only chance for lottery. What are other further options to stay in the states. Can’t do another masters. It only provides cpt. Tried and tested options please.
Have any of you quit to take a break - 3 month or a 6 month sabbatical to pursue other interests or just to clear your head and figure out what’s next. How easy was it to find a job after the break and how did you manage your health insurance? Any other things to keep in mind when considering a sabbatical beyond money?
''Tis the season of holiday parties. What's the craziest thing that's ever happened at yours?
What should I do? My 401k went from gaining 38% year after year for the past 4 years, now I'm losing money rapidly. I lost over 11k twice this week already. I been down almost every day this week. Please offer some good advice. What should I do? Should I put everything into safer stocks or just sit tight and ride it out?
Anybody have information about type and nature of business cases for manager and up position in a Big 4. What it entails usually?
Biggest fake health foods that people eat (esp. regarding weight loss?) A few: nuts, granola... what else?
I’ve been laid off and, as I embark on my job search, I’d like to keep my marketing skills sharp. Any recommendations on must read books, or resources?
Do you give yourself a lunch break when you WFH?
Real salary talk - share yours. Who I am: Caucasian, female Level: VP - 1.5 years in position. Salary: $130k + minor bonuses
All these rejections making me think I should lower my asking salary. I’m an M looking to jump to product management and asking for $140k in DC. Am I being unrealistic here or should I keep asking for this?
United needs cash to pay for better PR. Upvote if you think they should relinquish some gates to Delta @ORD!
Anybody pick up an online adjunct teaching position on the side? I’m thinking about it but wanted to see if anybody had any experience with it. Thanks
What's the deal if you have a vaca planned but you are swapping firms and the vaca will take place while employed at new firm? You tell them during interview?
