Reminder!! Protect yourself from burnout!! The past two weeks I watched as my coworker spiraled into chaos from burnout. Burning bridges, sobbing to the founding partner that “she’s fucking done”, alleging prejudices by the attorneys, claiming toxic work environment by her dept head, etc,.. I believe all this could have been avoided if she had recognized the signs of burnout and taken a few days off. I don’t know how she is going to come back from this.

Oh dear! Hard to watch. Thanks for the reminder that mental health days should be taken seriously (and as needed).

100% And to set boundaries. I think many of forget we can have boundaries at work AND enforce them. It's a slippery slope when you say yes to everything and forget you can say no.

Transitioning from full time agency life to be a freelancer and/or part timer. How have folks negotiated their rate, hourly vs day? For reference, I’m in the Account/Project Management space and have 8+ years of experience. And I’d ideally like the rate to result in more $$ than what I was making when salaried. Thanks!

Hello Fishes,

I have got my L2 Dependent Visa stamped for the US through the Wife's organization and she has booked the tickets for the both of us in the next weekend. I am currently unallocated in TCS and seeking projects in the same US location as my Wife. Can I travel to the US just like that and then continue my search within TCS from there or do I need any approvals to even fly in the first place?

I am worried because of the time crunch and will be glad to hear some points on this.

Additional Posts in Paralegals

I think I am about to be going through a divorce. My husband and I have been "in the thick of it" for almost a year and the last couple weeks have shown me that things are not getting better. I think I'm at the end of my rope. I was having concerns 3 yrs ago, but really was able to confront issues this year. We've been married for 6 years, together 9, and have a 2 year old. I'm 30 years old. My family isn't super supportive. I'm nervous, scared, worried, all the things.

Is it ethical for an old job to reach out to you because they’re being audited and want specifics on a case that’s 2 years old? I left this job awhile ago and they can’t find something I did two years ago so now they want to know where it is. I don’t even remember this case since it was so long ago.

I have a double BA, finishing my capstone for my paralegal certificate, have a little over 2 years in the legal industry but just started a new role/new practice area a few months ago. What are the chances the this new firm will acknowledge my paralegal certificate in the form of a promotion?
