Will the FMV of the house now become the cost basis? Will I qualify for the 250k exemption and pay tax only on the difference of the FMV and the cost basis + 250k exemption? I have an inspection scheduled for a townhouse and learned that there is no access to the roof (the house does not have an attic with roof access). This is an old house (>100 yrs) and I would like for the inspector to be able to view the roof to see if there are any issues. The sellers said we can use a drone but my inspector / none of the inspectors I’ve asked use a drone. Is there anything I can do here? The house is 3 stories.
