Anything on the west side up or down town. Straight shot to HY

If she’s not going to be in the office frequently, she could think about ubering when needed . Would take subway proximity out of the equation. She could focus on living in a neighborhood with restaurants and groceries.

like

She doesn’t mind taking the subway and would rather live in a nice area with things to do (vs right near the office - from what we know, Hudson Yards area isn’t the most fun). Thoughts? I personally think she should live in West Village or high 60s UWS.

Lots of CLS students sublet for the summer and Morningside Heights would be an easy commute to penn station. (1/2/3 downtown)

Gramercy- School of Vis Arts has great internship living option on 23rd. Lived there two summers ago and worked next to PS

In HoYa or Hell’s Kitchen

Some other options for an intern budget - the 7 train goes through quite a bit of Queens and is a straight shot to Hudson Yards. One PATH line a few stops from Hoboken (and a few more from some other spots in Jersey) ends right by Penn Station. Wouldn’t recommend it for a real “NYC” experience but some spots in Jersey (Newark Penn, Secaucus) are only a stop or 2 on the commuter rail from Penn as well and a shorter travel time than many other options (though are more expensive and don't come as frequently).

Chelsea: (1) Close enough to work to walk if needed, (2) Easy to get around town, (3) Better value / nicer buildings on avg. versus say, West Village

Also she could probably find cheaper rent in westchester (speaking from experience), get more room + nyc taxis are required to drive to westchester

Thanks all! She’s working at a law firm (so has enough $ for a decent spot) and wants a good NYC experience (Covid adjusted obviously) so it sounds like somewhere downtown would work well

Just finishing my first week in as an audit intern and genuinely I have no idea what I'm doing or even a general idea of the audit process. The senior associate left the engagement last week so it's just me and an associate, and they don't have time to give me instruction. Am I stupid or did the e-learns not prepare me for any of this? The training told me I'd be auditing cash but I haven't even touched a bank reconciliation.

I need to know if I’ve pigeon-holed myself. I have an undergrad in music business, and got a lot of good experience then. Worked in live events for 4 years before returning to law school, intending to practice in entertainment law (specifically music). Got a summer internship at a boutique entertainment firm, but no offer due to the small market. Moved to a larger market, but I’m not in one of the “hotspots”. I’m in-house currently, and have moved up quickly. (Cont.)

If all the top consulting firms made anonymous decks or gave anonymous pitches to a client, eg no branding and the client did not know which firm made which deck, do you actually think that the client would prefer MBB? Is MBB actually coming up with better/more innovative solutions? I feel like I see many repeat or slightly altered solutions on almost all of my cases, are these really things that people at Deloitte/Accenture etc aren’t coming up with?

I recently moved to Sweden to work as a consultant. But I'm facing problems with all documents issuing processes, that take too long, and without all the documents I can't open a bank account to receive my salary. I'm starting to freak out about this. D-Day? Finest hour? I’m sure we’re all hearing these ridiculous references on the news to the fight on Covid and the vaccines. Sounds sacrilegious to me. This isn’t the greatest generation by a long shot. This is the generation of whom many flouted medical guidelines, put others at risk for selfish reasons. Whined about work from home. Recklessly traveled in droves over Thanksgiving. Sorry, but just an observation about the hubris that brought out the worst in too many people.
