I can appreciate the encouragement, but don't let twitch replace him trying to get another job. Even if you get partnered, and get 100 subscribers, that's $250/ month. Not bad for playing videos games. But only $3k/ year.
It can turn into an addiction, being "so close" to making partner, and even the "I made it" feeling of partnership is negligible income. Not all of us will end up as the next Ninja.
I agree 💯 there are thousands and thousands of people sitting at home during the pandemic trying to make it on Twitch.
The reality is that Twitch is a competitive market like anything else. You have to put in lots of time and effort outside of streaming to create quality content. You also have to find an audience and give them a reason to watch you and not someone else.
Twitch is a fun hobby for me. I haven't mastered an audience or achieved success yet but I'm having fun. I wish everyone the best of luck on Twitch just don't abandon your tech career for it.
Known many Twitch streamers over the years. Most of them Partnered. You will need to have many hundreds of subs to make any kind of sustainable income. 99.9% fail and Twitch won’t help you get there they care only about already big streamers, they expect you to grow your own channel yourself. Do it as a hobby and enjoy it, don’t invest a ton of money into it and don’t use it to replace your FT job.
The rest of us are doing the same thing. Twitch.tv\hotloads
Why don’t we drop links? Too weird? I want to start my Twitch channel next month, kind of nervous about it.
I recommend watching Alpha Gaming on YouTube. Harris Heller has some great starter videos that really explain what you are getting into and all the software, equipment, and skills you need to get started without being a complete joke.
