I would really appreciate some input from the incredibly successful people in this group. I’m 54 with several years of experience in PR, media relations, political communications, crisis management, and broadcasting. I know I have a great deal to contribute, but the opportunities I’ve found have gone to younger people. My experience as a member of the media has enabled me to form productive relationships with journalists. How can I reach decision-makers?

Why would anyone contribute more than their employer match if they are trying to purchase a home as soon as possible? An IRA only allows you to withdraw up to 10k penalty free and a 401(k) requires you to take a loan (50k max with interest), otherwise you’re hit with a 10% penalty on top of paying income tax. Genuinely curious because it’s more logical to max out your Roth IRA, 401k up to the employee match, and then dump the rest in your brokerage so your savings aren’t locked until you’re 59.

Question regarding getting a Master’s of financial analysis, and possibly sitting for CFA. Have a bacherlors degree in finance, and graduated right before Covid hit. During my undergrad, I didn’t take it seriously, GPA on the lower end, and never really got any valuable internships that would help me pursue an actual career in finance. Have 2 years working as a loan officer, looking to get into a corporate finance role, which I cannot get now because of lack of relevant experience. Any thoughts?

Hey, I’m pretty young (early 20s) and started last year my professional career, I already had a promotion and already saw front and back office (in a pretty good financial institution in Canada). I would love to gain some experience and get an MBA in a couple years. What are some tips/things that you would’ve given yourself at my age, for someone who wants to climb the ladder. Thanks ☺️
