United and American have comparable programs, though I’d say it’s easier to get status in United since you’re traveling every week. If you’re out of Newark, your best best would be United - it’s a major hub so you’d get all the direct flights to just about anywhere. United partners with Marriott, so acquiring status in both gives great point redemption.
Here’s the thing: when you get down to it, all of the airline status programs give you similar perks and benefits. Go with what’s most convenient for you based on hubs.
Do not want to start on a new card program, as I’ll have to use Corporate AmEx for the bookings.
Looking for points to either travel to India annually or for vacations to Europe, S America etc and also for class upgrades, seat perks and the like.
Previously Delta had better service, on time reliance but more expensive for points redemption while United had better points redemption but worse service . Don’t know the situation currently and have not flown American.
