Richard Edelman came out quickly at the start of Covid-19 with a promise that Edelman would not be letting people go. Surprised he made that promise so early when business is shifting so quickly.

Something as unpredictable as COVID is hard to make promises around. I’m happy for them, skeptical of how realistic it’ll be to maintain. Especially having just lost the client that kept their lights on in NYC...

Exactly. I suppose my post sounded critical. I didn’t intend it to be. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. I can’t imagine some of the calls that need to be made by leadership. I was more surprised that he came out so early with the promise because things can change and obviously have changed. At some point, I’m not sure it’s healthy for the broader business to NOT make some cuts.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting.

I appreciate the promise but also understand that changes happen. He gave it the timeline (through to end of fiscal) so that was enough for me to plan accordingly just in case.

How does the occupancy clause work on a loan refinance? I've been living at my primary home for years and plan to stay, but with COVID I wanted to keep my options open. Lawyer says occupancy applies to before the loan. But that doesn't seem right if I just signed the refinance documents with that occupancy language...

Amid covid (2 years ago) I got into a paternalistic/white knight kind of relationship. Basically made SO leave her country to escape from a terrible situation, we weren't official at the time, and I expected things to go a lot more smoothly that they went, love turned more into a protective feeling, however now that I'm changing jobs and in a position where I finally feel like getting the recognition and pay that I deserve I have started to feel a little trapped in my relationship, (Continue)

I’m relieved for a lot of reasons but I have this horrible fear about living alone during COVID times. Single folks living alone, how are you coping with the lack of physical touch? Any advice here would be wonderful. I’m struggling the most with losing our dog and not having another person around to hug and talk to.

Sold 50% of portfolio to cash and moved 50% in 401k to Treasury bonds in anticipation of major fall this week. The current levels are unrealistic and unsustainable with economy shut and covid cases about to cross 3M. I see Indices fall by 20-30% from current rates to retest March lows. Thoughts?

Hello everyone I have 29 years as a dental professional in Texas. I started as a dental assistant back in 1993. As my career progressed as a RDA, I moved to the front office and eventually management. I even taught dental assistants and became the Program Director of a DA program. COVID opened up remote work for me, I manage eclaims, claims corrections and billing for two offices. $20 per hour, no bonuses or incentives, I know I am not getting paid enough! Any input would be appreciated.

I started at my office over a year and a half ago as a legal assistant. I moved up to a paralegal role in December, but once Covid hit and we let some people go, I was given some of the responsibilities of legal assistant and receptionist on top of my paralegal position. They want to increase my salary to $33,000 /year, which is a substantial increase, but I was making so little as a legal assistant that I’m not sure. I live in a metropolitan city with 1 yr experience. Let me know your thoughts!

Thoughts about directing with a face mask on? (My title here says EP but I’m a director). I’ve been putting off shooting a script I wrote over a year ago because of covid and me not wanting to deal with covid precautions on set, meaning, even if it is safe, I worry about my ability to direct and effectively communicate with a face mask on. Non-verbal cues lost, tone, etc. But at the same time I haven’t done anything creative in over a year and need to. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Hi everyone,

I was affected by layoffs about a month ago and urgently looking for a good immigration lawyer. The lawyer should be experienced in handling this 60 day grace period situation and developing alternate strategies - such as change of status to B1/B2 or applying to jobs from India. There is a lot of noise and wrong information going in the market so looking for good recommendations.

I have very little time left for my grace period to end and need a consultation soon. Thanks

Currently at a large agency but have an opportunity to jump into freelancing which I’ve been wanting to try. Already have a great first client waiting in the wings. I’d ideally like to also continue to support one of my current agency clients because I enjoy my work with them. I’m thinking the way to do this is asking the agency (rather than the client) to stay on that work as a contractor rather than FTE (don’t want to burn any bridges). Has anyone pulled off something similar? Advice?
