He told me a story about st Lucia once. How he was young he'd go on a boat and sail in the morning, catch fresh fish, and make the best tasting fish curry you'd ever have in your life. That inspired me to research all about st Lucia. He was literally the kindest person I'd ever known and find it hard to imagine that he'd be a victim of this horrible crime. I really hope this world will have more remorse and find a heart.
This is so sad and outrageous. RIP.Also, there is reason Colin has to take a knee as a symbol. I have no sympathy for people making fun of him and deviating from the issue thinking it’s disrespect to country. One nation!
I feel for all his friends and family. 4 years ago a cousin was shot and killed in his own during a home invasion. He was 31, just starting to live.
So far 2 of the monsters have gone to trial. First sentencing suspended awaiting the outcome of the others. Second found guily of capital murder. Life in prison without parole. 2 more to go.
I would never want this agony on anyone.
RIP Botham. I didn't know you, but I won't forget you.
@pwc1 he was genuinely nice person, and a tragic thing happened to him. Of course people would know him. Even if they didn't, any human being capable of feeling emotion and empathy, as well as basic comprehension of ethics knows this just wasnt right.
Wasn’t shot by accident. She shot him on purpose
@pwc1 simply a typo. He actually went by Bo, but that's not what this us about. It's about a good hearted man who was brutally murdered over a scared cop who thought she was in her house but wasn't.. And didn't take the precautions to ensure that she didn't just take an innocent life
His name was Botham Jean.
You’re right. I should have taken a breath first. I’m angry at the rumors by people who “knew” him all over the internet, and shouldn’t have reacted without thinking.
@kpmg1 your message comes across as perhaps taking this a bit personal. Regardless of the words one may use, the message is that this was a man who, much like us, was dedicated to his profession, worked hard at life, was kind, and didn't deserve to leave us. Not to mention how young he was. Im not an attorney, nor do I profess to even know the precise difference between manslaughter and murder. Gertrude Stein said it best when she wrote "a rose is a rose is a rose". In my eyes, taking a human life is taking a human life, and it hurts. I don't even have to technically know the man, but even the little interaction in working with him touched me in a way that inspired me. Given the current environment we live in, it'd be naive of me to not acknowledge the elephant in the room either - was the intention really just self defense? How drunk or mentally unstable does one have to be to not be able to recognize they are not in their own home? Why in the world would DPD employ a person who is psychologically unfit to take precautions, and to PROTECT our community? I pay my taxes so that I may place trust in these very people who failed to protect my colleague, and that hurts me. Yes. I am not perfect, and may not use the technically right words, but I think you catch my drift when I say "murder". I can only hope you are an adult capable of empathy and understanding.
My condolences to family and friends. This is just so sad..
I hope they hang her!
^KPMG1 maybe take it a bit easy on yourself. This is hard for all of us.

This story is so sad.
Not bizarre to me. Another example of an idiot cop
Taking away absolutely nothing from the condolences, you should try to be more precise in your wording. The police officer isn’t charged with murder.
This story is so bizarre. Hopefully the truth comes out.
