Rising 2A here. Does anyone here do corporate work and have suggestions on dealing with improving attention to detail, prioritization, organization? Recently diagnosed along with dealing with major life changes (new child, new house).

Was just asked to leave my firm unfortunately. Would really appreciate guidance from others who may be dealing with similar things.

On a side note, I'm so happy I found this page. I've felt like I've been out on a island without any hope.

The concept of a "thought dump" literally changed my life. Now, I have a place where I can park my random thoughts to be dealt with later. This allows me to let things go and not get distracted, which has done wonders for my focus in the moment. I'd strongly recommend giving that a try. You can even use the notes feature on your phone.

Yep I agree. I do a brain dump every single day to just get it all out of my head and then I organize the list by subjects. It seems to work really well for me.

For me the key was developing tools for keeping things organized, even if it made me feel like a total freak. Every single thing in my home and work office has it's own place that I can return things too after I'm done with them. I also try to work in shifts when at home, which helps me stay detail oriented and focused for however long but makes space for my brain to go off the rails a little bit when I get to take a break. I also swear by the thought dump! So essential when I'm working so my mind can actually be clear.

Hello everyone! I am looking for advice. I am a C&B Team lead ( about 15 years of experience) but all my experience was in Russia. Now I got married and moved to UK , plus we have got a baby in 2019 so now I am looking for a job in UK having 3 years of career break. Although, I am getting CIPD lvl 7 diploma this year. My husband and I are going to start trying soon and are trying to get on the same page regarding childcare. I suggested daycare but my husband says he absolutely doesn’t want a “stranger” watching our child. Instead, he wants our moms to watch our child. My mom doesn’t have the best health and can’t really be relied on so that leaves his mom. I’ve said for years that I don’t want our moms to be our childcare. Is there a way to compromise here? Any idea that’s not a parent = stranger to him 😩

Some context: agency let go about 15% of the company a month ago. I was warned by my dept lead more layoffs could happen if we don’t win new business soon. I’m 35w pregnant.

What scenario (if any) is most likely:
- That I’m let go before my mat leave begins
- I’m let go during mat leave
- I’m let go immediately after returning from mat leave

Seems like potential PR nightmare for them, but I can’t ignore the fact that I was given a heads up that layoffs could happen.

Starting a new job on Monday! I am very nervous as it’s my first day back to work post four month maternity leave and also a new job! I am a FTM and grateful that my mom is here to help me out with baby. Brought some new cloth for work (on site few days a week) as body changed. Reading some industry news to keep up. I was told during my review that I tend to freeze and tense up whenever I get asked a question I don’t know the answer to. Also that sometimes I rush to a conclusion without fully thinking the answer through. Is anyone else experiencing similar issues? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. 🙏🏻

After I procrastinate I feel so guilty that I don't know what to do or say to the people I've flaked on—even if I only miss the deadline by 5 minutes. How do you bounce back from procrastinating?

I’ve been taking Adderall IR for approx. 6 months now (currently prescribed 40mg aka 20mg 2x daily) and I don’t feel it working anymore. My hyperactivity is back in full force and I feel that calm yet alert feeling only for the first hour after taking it. I feel like it’s too soon for this to happen (I read Adderall can stop working for some people after taking it for a few years, but it’s been <1 year for me). Should I ask my doctor to try another ADHD med? This is so frustrating.

Based on suggestions from my recent post I used Circle and was diagnosed and prescribed 5 mg of Aderall XR. Does anyone who has used a primary care or psychiatrist to get diagnosed have insight into what they did prior to diagnosis? Trying to compare the level of assessment and whether I should get any further testing done. I’m pretty confident I have issues after reading symptoms from credible sources online and reading experiences in this bowl, but curious if I should have been tested more.

Are people still live on here? I was diagnosed last year with ADD and I’ve tried two stimulants so far. I know they aren’t meant to be a magic pill but I’m still struggling with general tasks and feel like I’m doing the bare minimum. The Nurse has suggested I try non stimulants. How do you all deal with time management - and specifically time estimate - problems?

I always underestimate how long things will take, both because we ADHD’ers view time differently and because I don’t build in time for getting distracted.

I work with a partner who asks me by when I can get something done rather than giving a deadline. I appreciate the flexibility but I always short sell myself and end up pulling all-nighters to meet my self-imposed unrealistic deadlines.

How do you manage keeping track of and responding to teams chats and emails in a timely manner? I have a hard time addressing chats when I am focused on something else, because I know it will completely derail me. But then I forgot to circle back to the chat when I’m done and I’ve recently been told that my response time is unacceptable and needs to improve, but I’m truly unsure how to improve.

Today the partner told me he thinks I have executive function issues. “Do you know what that is?”

I acted like I didn’t know and just ran to the bathroom and cried. I feel like I’ve been found out. Everyone tells you not to disclose your EF or ADHD issues and just try to cope, taking for granted older partners don’t know what’s up.

Does anyone here have trouble getting out of bed in the morning? I feel like I can’t motivate myself to wake up and then get out of bed every single day. Once I’m out of bed and working, I can get motivated and work through the day. I tend to have very productive 3 PM - 12 AM. I just wish that I could get myself to pull that back six hours.

I have a really hard time without my medication, but most of the time when I do take it, I get terrible acid reflux and also lose my appetite. I was on adderall but switched to Focalin, but still having the same issue. Anyone experienced this??

Anyone feel like it took them longer to come into their own as associates? I was a terrible junior, I got fired from my job at a small plaintiff firm. They told me that I don’t have the “mental acuity to be a lawyer,” but as a fifth year at a V30 something just clicked. I just got the first positive evaluation of my professional life. I have a December birthday and this is the first time in ages that I can go into it not feeling hopeless.

I hate people defending themselves or others who use ADHD meds recreationally. Like I shouldn’t blame them for all the trouble I have to go to every month to get my prescriptions because it’s a bigger societal problem. 🙄
