Rising 3rd year in NY Big Law (cap markets). I’m looking to go in-house. Any advice on where to look? I’d like to go somewhere with good training and I want to do more general corporate work and continue building my skills. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Very few in house jobs have "good training." You learn from peers and supervisors.

Find a smaller pubco that needs a #2 on the securities side and you will learn a lot!

Hi bowlers! 2020 grad & spent the past 2 years working for USACE. I love the job/WLB but for personal reasons I’m moving to NYC in Aug. I’ve been applying to all the in-house jobs I can find (not trying to study for/pass the NY bar in 2 months). Snag is I feel like I’m not making it past HR. I don’t have a fancy degree, but I did graduate top 15%, was managing editor for Law Review, & have 5 years military exp. prior to law school. Anyone willing to chat/vouch for me to get me in the door? TIA!

I’ve tried the standard coping mechanisms (count to 10, workout, etc.), but doesn’t help. Is this burnout? Any tips here?

I’m a 7-8ish years out director of legal at a small media company. I’ve been here about 3 years and want out, but I’m not sure whether it’s the right time considering that I don’t want to go to a giant company with tons of lawyers (I get emails from Netflix, roku, Viacom recruiters frequently). My goal job is to be the first legal hire at a media startup and eventually build out my own team. Am I too early for that?

Hey everyone! New to the platform. I’m in house counsel at an aerospace/AI company in CA & looking for some comprehensive, practical commercial contracts training. I’ve found a couple of useful books, but wondering if anyone in a similar position knows of any online or in person courses worthwhile. I’m one year out of law school, and a challenge of in house for me so far has been the lack of sustained and focused training in certain areas, though I know there’s no substitute for hands-on work.
