Legally, this was the correct outcome.
As I keep saying, he and his mother will no face two wrongful death civil suits. And even if they find that both are only 30% responsible, that will be an enormous amount of money.
His mom, in particular, is going to face some really tough questions on why she thought taking her underage son, armed, to a protest and leaving him there unsupervised was a responsible parental decision
She didn’t take him there
Legally: In the instance of the event, yes stand your ground law, there’s no way to prove that he didn’t feel like he was in imminent danger. And frankly, you’re holding a weapon in the middle of a riot w people around you coming to take that weapon. What do you do, you defend yourself. He was legally within his rights.
Morally: What the fuck are you doing being an untrained 17 y old bringing a semi auto to a riot. Where are your parents? Why do you then leave the post you said you’d defend with your weapon at that? It was ruled out in the trial that he’d be performing medical aid while having the weapon on him, which he pretty much agreed w, so why are you walking into a riot w a semi auto rifle? To me that’s too close to incitement. Further didn’t he have basically a lunchbox filled w some medical supplies? They can get bandaids the next day, you’re not gonna do anything life saving.
Environmentally: This poor kid was failed. I find it likely that the majority of the authoritative influences in his life told him he was doing the right thing. Even the police drive by and said “we appreciate you” to the group. From his history that I learned of it sounds like his parents weren’t the best role models, how does a kid have full access to a semi auto rifle at 17? Why is he being invited to help defend a business property? He’s 17! He truly believed he was in the right and that’s sad.
All this said, Kyle is a being used as a political pawn between the two parties. The media jumped to paint him in a bad light and will likely continue to do so. This kid is about to cash in larger than sandman. I hope he uses the money to educate himself.

Sandman didn't "cash in." Stop believing rumors started by people desperate for them to be true
Nor will Rittenhouse. The media covered what happened, what was alleged to have happen, what the prosecution was saying happened, and gave opinions.
That's all covered by the first amendment.
Sandman didn't kill someone. Sandman wasn't arrested. The police did not comment. It's very different. And he still did not get paid. He settled, likely for not very much, because of the Constitution.

The justice system doesn’t care about what you believe is morally “incorrect.”
Nor should it!
This is the harsh reality, our laws aren’t perfect. But compared to other countries they aren’t so bad, and we continually strive for the better
