I vote both.
Beautiful. I like the deep sea but found the thickness was too much. I bought a AAA when I was in China and used it as my travel watch / trial period but it got banged and dinged way too many times so I didn’t buy the real one.
I love my sub - something about it is so timeless, functional, versatile. Also the original James Bond watch in Dr No back in 1962. If I was to get another Rolex, it would be a Yachtmaster II for a different look.
Personally I think they are too similar to have them both lying around. I’d get rid of the Sub

Money being no object, I could certainly see a place for both, but in real life I wouldn’t want to tie up that much money in watches that ultimately have a lot of overlap. But in any case if you get the GMT for MSRP you can flip it for an instant profit, so buy it and decide later.

They are very similar, but but I think the Batman really has that “wow” factor for me that the sub misses while adding a bit of flair with the two tone bezel. Sell the sub when you get the Batman
The sub will remain as it was my wedding gift and still find it gives that sporty yet dressy look even when wearing a suit. I agree something about the Black / blue bezel just pops. I was not a fan of the polished down the middle bracelet but with the jubilee looks nice. Wish the glass was different on the GMT and didn’t have the cyclops lens for the date. Let’s see if I get one and then will decide when it happens...

Personally my take is that once you have more than two Rolex sport watches, it’s pretty boring and unoriginal. They’re really not that different from each other. There are lots of other interesting watches out there.
That being said, I don’t totally get the appeal of the blue-black GMT. First of all, Batman doesn’t even wear blue! Batman belongs with the old all-black GMT. Second, the colors don’t pop the way they do with the Pepsi or Root Beer. I do think the Jubilee bracelet adds an interesting dimension—transforms it into a pure luxury watch rather than a “sport” model. I guess that’s where Rolex is these days.

No blue here!
A Rolex was my first big grail purchase, and I was really torn between a 16800 Sub and a 16750 Pepsi GMT. Tried both on, and that didn’t help at all.
I ultimately went with the Sub on account of it feeling like the stronger base for a small watch collection — it’s got the richer history, especially vis a vis the overall Rolex design language. To all those who say that Subs don’t stand out anymore, I’d wager that a real watch enthusiast can spot the difference between a 5513 and a 1680 from across a table — and both stand in significant contrast to the cartoonish font/color details that Rolex is currently pushing on its sport models.
But if I had the cash to own both a 1680 Sub and a 1675 GMT, you bet I would. Instead, I’m eyeing a 1601 Datejust, which will not cause my partner to initiate couples-therapy over my poor financial decisions.
Similar reason why I went with the sub - history and I felt it had a sporty and classic look to it. Over time the gmt Batman grew on me. I was deciding between the Wimbledon version and the DJ41 gold/ steel jubilee bracelet and flute bezel but when I tried it on it shined / blinged way too much and considered the optics when I’m meeting clients and wasn’t sure if gold face or white would been better. I notice in 2 years price went up by $2k Now with the Batgirl I feel I get 2 watch look/ style in one.
