Roommate wants cable, I don't. Is it fair to ask him to pay more when I know I won't use it much (grew up without it). I don't feel like throwing out $600 of my money every year

Just say no

And there's Deloitte always reliable to provide the most diplomatic and sensible response

like

If he wants cable he should pay for it himself. Just make it clear you don't want it.

like

Ask him to go to the neighbors place to watch TV.

like

We have roku, Netflix, amazon, hbo, all the cable television channel account passwords, ninja box. We literally have every ounce of tv that exists, he just likes "the feel of flipping channels"

like

It's like cake. If he's the only one who wants to eat it, then he has to pay for it, but you don't get to eat ANY of it even if it's just sitting there in the communal fridge.

Today seems to be roommate therapy day

like

D3 nailed it. Or demand he spend $600 on something he doesn't want but you do.

like

Okay thanks guys, I needed to confirm I'm not unreasonable. Comcast is just crazy expensive...

like

Sue him/her

For flipping channels, get an antenna

like

Ninja box looks interesting- does it really replace a roku, Apple TV, etc as it claims?

like

Omg I love ninja box - it's my best purchase this year. It has every show, movie, streaming content. We had the roku first and now just toggle between even though we don't really need both.

like

Get FIOS instead

like

This should be agreed on bu all roommates. If you say no, you're off the hook for it. Just actually stay off the cable if your roommate does pay for ot

Omg you basically have cable. Why are ppl so ridiculous? I wouldn't pay for it if I were you

Definitely say no. Why would you pay for something you absolutely won't be using. It's not like a split utility where you use less electricity or water than him...

The only option is calculated assassination

Not available in mah area :(

Im currently studying Industrial Engineering with a minor in management. I’m interviewing currently for consulting, and theres a VC course at my school that seems really interesting but I can’t fit it into my schedule without removing the last class I need for my minor. Would not getting that minor do any harm to me short or long term? Im thinking that if I end up at consulting especially no one will care about a management minor they’ll just look at the firm I worked for.

Question for everyone here: hybrid - 2 / 3 days a week or remote work? Which do you prefer and why?

Recently interviewed at Adobe, it was great. Even the senior designer I was connected with escalated it a lot. But then suddenly after the last interview, I haven’t heard in a week from them even after multiple follow ups. Recruiter said she will reach out on Monday, but even Tuesday passed now. Should I wait a week or move on for other offers?

Moving to Dallas soon. Does it make sense to buy a condo or house even if I dont think I'll stay there for more than 3 years? Also want to take advantage of low interest rates.

Hiya!

I'm looking at applying to MBB (Preferably BCG) for a summer internship this summer. I'm a first-gen Oxbridge student, and while I have little experience in consulting along the lines of MBB, I did work in the city last summer as an sustainability consultant.

I'm curious how important it is to have a referral etc and what you'd recommend for applications opening in jan. Any advice is super appreciated I don't have any connections to the industry but it's something im interested in.

My current role started out as a way to increase my skills, but for the past year the majority of what I’ve done is transcribing data between systems, which is one of the things I’m very bad at. My brain switches letters/numbers. With some recent changes, all other responsibilities were removed. I had a good reputation in the company before this, but now every day I feel like a failure because I keep making mistakes.
