I have heard good things about them. Have an acquaintance there who was a B4 ex-audit senior. Just make sure you know what you're getting into. It's accounting advisory work, so essentially outsourced financial reporting. Not really my thing, but if you want to go down that route, it could be a good option that isn't tax.
Heard culture is good. They have "unlimited" PTO which is meh... Glassdoor reviews seems good overall. They are a pretty small company so there are probably some pain points there with bad tech or whatever. If you can get an honest opinion from someone you know, that is best. Ask them what the worst part of the job/company is and other difficult questions that would be hard to ask an interviewer.

Yeah at worst it would be JEs and technical accounting memos. Back when I was at B4, my client actually used Embark to supplement their FR team. There are more interesting tasks too like IFRS to GAAP conversion and M&A related stuff, but ultimately it revolves around compliance and the accounting standards (again, not my thing).
The emerging service lines are likely just a dream that you won't get to see. Kinda like how PA firms say we can automate everything one day. It's similar to how Protiviti (an outsourced IA firm) promises their employees that they'll work on consulting projects but they never happen. But I don't work at embark so maybe I'm completely wrong.
If you want to do FP&A I'd recommend making that move soon. Try to spend any extra time learning the necessary skillset (modeling and visualization). If you have friends in FP&A or just at your desired companies, get referrals. You'd be surprised how much B4 + CPA will do for you. You are still at a point where you can convince a company you can be successful in a different role. I honestly don't see how doing technical accounting is going to make you more marketable for FP&A, but maybe it's a step up from tax? Not sure.
