Sad it’s taken this tragedy for the issue to finally get mainstream attention, but I’m going to start collating an honour roll of law firms that have finally made public statements - I’ll start: 1) Latham 2) Sidley Austin 3) Wilson Sonsini

I know for a fact that they only reluctantly made a statement after one partner in the NY office sent out a firm wide email asking why the firm didn’t say anything or do anything, and honestly, their statement seems shit.

I just had a quick question, so I took the gre and got a good score (329), and want to apply this fall to go to b-school next year.

I am thinking about quitting my job next month and traveling for a couple months and then would apply for school in the fall. Would that be something that is looked down upon from the admission officers point of view since I would technically be unemployed when I’m applying or is it fine if I talk about traveling and the international experience etc?

Need some suggestions..!!!

I got an opportunity with John Deere as a 'Technical Information Specialist'
Offer - 11.5 lpa, and joining in 15 days
In discussion with other company they said the same around 11.5lpa but process is taking time.

Also i have an offer of 9 lpa

My current is 6.5 lpa

Experience 5.6 years, I am a Mechanical Engineer worked with tier 1 company.

Can anyone suggest me, w.r.t. market value or anything?
They said that 11.5 is last

Thank You.

During WWII a brilliant engineer found a way to encrypt radio transmissions, which led to the wireless network we use today. Who? Hedy Lamarr (yes, THAT Hedy Lamarr, the actress). A pretty face does not have to mean a lack of intelligence!

Has anyone had extended periods of unemployment and can speak to ways in which to stay confident? Worked for an ent. company that let go a large number of employees back in July due to Covid. I’ve had many first interviews and one or two second interviews. Yet nothing is sticking. I handled the extra time well in the summer when I picked up cycling - yet now everything feels so bleak. Some days I forget I’m an attorney and the hard journey it took to get to where I am. I turn 30 end of December

I’m a 1styear, and there’s one other junior associate of color in my group.
The partner I work for keeps calling me her name. For ex: my name is “Sara” and her name is “Jasmine”. Names not similar, we don’t look alike - but I suppose we are about the same complexion. I can’t help but think it’s because we’re the only two black juniors. I was granting her grace because my mom accidentally calls me my sisters name and stuff, I get that it happens. But now it’s becoming a microagression. Advice?

Midlevel here and I don’t think I know or fully understand how to network. It feels disingenuous to meet someone with the sole intention of wanting something from them in return. It’s not like making friends with just the idea of having good people in your life. What am I missing? I’ve been on the job market lately and advice I’m hearing is “network, network”/ “your network is your networth” and I’m honestly at a loss as to what to do, or perhaps what questions to ask? -Sigh-

Please tell me that I am not the only in-house counsel in Tech with a supervisor that shares the same race as one other team member in the same sub-group (also reporting to same supervisor), who feels that they get just slightly a little less recognition in workplace, but harder/higher standards imposed indirectly on? I mean, I work longer hours, work harder, am more responsive to emails/matters when out of office, and have broader range of legal in-house and law firm experiences.
