From an A/C’s perspective:
1. You’re expected to have the answer / 80% ready hypotheses for the overall questions of the case (e.g. We should probably do A, not B or C); share these early and often (as hypotheses change); your A/C teams typically don’t know as much as you do about a certain domain/client
2. Treat your junior team fairly and set them up for success; for this, they’ll work their butts off for you
3. Align the clients and MDPs to the minimum viable product and give your teams (simultaneously guidance on how the MVP might evolve in terms of degree of detail)
4. Find your core group of MDPs and A/C/PLs ASAP
5. Balance cultural integration and bringing your own perspective: as an experienced hire A/C, I find it’s sometimes helpful to bring a non-BCG perspective on certain topics; but don’t over do it (eg start every gd sentence with when I was at X…)
6. Minimize unreasonable asks; there should be a general trajectory / path to the outputs you are looking for, even if parts of the path are covered by clouds.
