Said it before and I’ll say it again: Hyatt’s are woefully underrated. Walked in the front of my hotel wearing the “shit today was rough” look and a lobby clerk just hands me this on my way to my room

Hyatt’s are great, but there just aren’t that many of them

Man I never get this service and I stay about 140 nights a year at the SPGs

I’m not even highly ranked in their loyalty program (2nd tier out of 4) and they have still handed me two of the silliest upgrades I’ve ever had in my consulting career this year alone.

One was a two-story room in Chicago with a spiral staircase in the middle of it (they actually handed me two separate room keys at check-in for separate floors), and the other was accommodating an unannounced 8am check-in and then upgrading my base-rate reservation to a room with an adjoining 1,100 sq foot suite in Denver.

I was SPG for years and they did a great job, but I’ve consistently been impressed with Hyatt’s hustle

^The Hyatt house I was staying in 2 years ago for a project actually had my beer preference in their CRM. They would hand me a local IPA at check in along with a plate of cookies.

True story though, I must have gained weight over the course of the project because the beer and cookie treatment devolved into a fruit plate by the end of the gig.

Hyatt’s can also be passive aggressive, I guess.

I agree, but my clients have thankfully all been in large metro areas and Ive never had an issue finding one to stay in.

I feel like they know they are the bottom of the top tier and just try a little harder than Marriott/SPG/Hilton/Comparable IHG properties to win you over.

I’m a fan, especially when they hand me a third of a bottle of wine

Hyatt’s boutique brand Andaz is the best

Hyatt treats me like I matter, unlike Marriott/SPG where I am just another lifetime platinum premier elite...

Hyatt should give that guy a raise. He just single handedly bought the most amazing ROI on marketing for a ~$2 cost investment.

I usually have snacks and diet cokes waiting in my room. Love, love, love Hyatt!

My PMD was just telling me today that they check you in sand give you your room key while you’re still in transit from the airport... now this post?! I may switch from SPG where they always treat me like a stranger.

SPG treats me well. Have been welcomed to my room with glass of wine and a cheese plate, a bottle of wine and chocolates and often just chocolates

I’ve found that if you use a corporate code at Hyatt, even without status, they treat you well cause they know you may spend a lot with them

I stay at a Hyatt all the time but have never had this experience!

Already have 100+ nights at spg this year and I’m doing the platinum challenge with Hyatt now. 4 more nights for globalist (top status) - can hit it in 20 nights right now (vs 60 normally) :)

But do they ask you what “treat” you prefer? That is when you know you matter to them

Hyatt is my second favorite brand after Marriott/SPG. I’ve gotten this kind of service at a Marriott before too

I prefer Hyatt too. The manager invited me for breakfast one day They have excellent bars and bartenders too. Try the Hyatt Centric bar in NYC. Rooftop overlooking the city The only downside is that it’s a block east of Times Square but they do keep the riff raff out

Are they the bottom of the top tier? Didn't know that. I've always preferred them, especially andaz.

I think that, as a brand, you could make the argument that they are less preferred when compared to Marriott/SPG, Hilton, and maybe IHG solely because of how there are fewer of them.

But from a service standpoint I’d put them right up there with SPG

Help me make a final decision between Mck and BCG. Are these points valid :
Mck Pros over BCG - One firm culture (big), global staffing (big) , better internal processes?, better brand, better exit opps
BCG Pros over Mck - Slightly higher pay (negligible), closer network.
Role equivalent at both : Junior associate for Mck and Senior associate for BCG. Both 1+ yrs below MBA equivalent level

Tilting from BCG to Mck. I want to travel / work with colleagues from around the world.
