After weeks of no contact Goldman Sachs have finally come back to me with an offer of £75k for an associate role within Global markets ops (collateral management) in London. I initially gave them salary expectation of £80-85k and have 2 competing offers around £80k range. I’ve tried to negotiate and tried to ask for higher but they won’t budge or match my other offers. They’re saying the pay is in line with the peer group and my experience (7.5 years). Am I being lowballed? Goldman Sachs

Welcome to grown up life. There will be others and you will thank yourself down the line for this choice. When you close a door, another opens.
Family first. End of story.
Would have been great for my reel. And fun. Felt I had to put my (young) family first, and would have required us fronting lots of additional $$$ for childcare while I was gone. I'm sad... There will be other opportunities, right?! RIGHT?!?! Sigh....
The part of you that turned out down knew what's better for you and protected you from the greater anxiety you'd feel of putting your family in hardship, which in turn would not have let you enjoy the gig after all. The stars will align and when they do, you'll know it because you won't have a pit in your stomach. Hugs!
No one is going to look at your reel at your wake. Family first always. More opportunities will come that don't require you to make a choice between the two.
There will be others.
#perspective thanks ya'll.
I've had to do that a few times in my career. Broke my heart every time, but I chose my family. And I'd do it again.
@SAS man I wish!!
Same. Turned down a good one for financial reasons. Sigh. There will be others.
Just did this today for the exact same reasons. Wish we could have it all. Fingers crossed you get another great opportunity when you're ready!
@SAS1 my agency has some sort of wellness plan and provide certain "support" services for us travelers. Basically we could get a list of pre-screened, approved and certified childcare specialists and we could either pay a deductible OR expense a certain amount. Nevertheless is not necessarily the best service. I also believe it should be one of those optional benefits.
Ugh I'm sorry OP. It's so hard figuring out if one is making the right choice. I'm in this situation now
City?
I am childless so just curious - do agencies not have childcare reimbursement? It would seem to make sense for a business that travels so much.
@Producer1 what agency?
