What is your background, years of experience, and what state are you in? I know most applications ask for your salary requirements; do you think you're overshooting? Trying to understand what's factoring into you not getting any interviews.
What I do is pick a company and tag the word recruiter on to the end of the company's name. Add allll of the recruiters from that company on your linked in...the recruiters sometimes post their listings on there
OP i want to give you some tough love here because it might help...
There is absolutely something wrong somewhere. I dont know anything about the 8 months you've spent before you got laid off, what you've been saying in interviews, what your resume looks like, how you present yourself, and frankly, i dont think its anyones business.
Think about these 4 things. Good luck brother.
I was laid off over 4 months ago. I have not had a interview during my unemployment. I have tried different resume editing services, linkedin profinder services, and getting career coaches, nothing has worked. People in this group have helped me edit my resume. Last year was my first year of consulting and I was laid off after just 8 months. Consulting is all about who you know. i do not know anyone in consulting. I got lucky with my first consulting job because I got a job without not having a network. Even with having a big and well-known firm on my resume, I still am not getting any interviews. I have tried reaching out to recruiters on linkedin and have not had much luck. Like how do you get a interview without having a network? I have gotten one consulting job and I know that I am capable of getting another consulting job. I have the experience. I have posted in this group before with my experience and there have been nice people that have given me referrals to positions which I am very appreciative of. I am still not able to get a interview even with referrals. Being a consultant has always been a dream of mine. I do not want to give up on my dream just because I got laid off. Finding a job is really important but I do not want to just get any kind of job. I am trying not to get frustrated and stressed but it is getting more and more difficult not to. I am not worried about finances because I have money saved up and can pay my bills. Everyone tells me it is okay to be unemployed for 6 months to 1 year and I should not be worried. All I hear is don’t stress but it’s hard not to. All I am asking for is even just one interview. I used to be able to find motivation to apply for jobs everyday but today has been tough. Every morning all I see is rejections in my email. Can anyone in this group please give me some advice and suggestions of what I can do to get another consulting job? Any and all help/assistance is appreciated. Please. Thank You.
Sorry you feel that way OP. Just from reading your post two things come to mind when I think from a recruiter perspective.
1. The Gap in employment history
2. Why were you laid off (not saying it’s your fault as layoffs do happen) but it’s the kind of thing that you would need to address in a cover letter and maybe subsequently in an interview.
And then there is the obvious, sometimes having a Muslim sounding name can put you at a disadvantage, unfair I know but that is the reality.
What’s your skill set and which consulting firm did you work for? Let me see if I might be able to help.
Salaam! Sorry to hear about your situation. Will make dua for you. In sha Allah something good will come your way soon!
Salaam OP, I can connect you to career coaching services. DM me if interested and I’ll send you the details. It’s a contact I have in the consulting industry who is experienced and can assist with a lot of different things (resume review, interview prep, mentoring etc) and provides career coaching for many industries and levels as her business.
If it’s been 8 months, it’s worth a shot right?

OP:
Hope you get something soon IA.
Have you looked at temp jobs in the meantime? Would help bridge the growing unemployment gap.
