I came into a hedge fund job as an analyst in February of this year and didn’t negotiate my bonus at the outset. I was coming from tech and needed a green card so didn’t have much room to do so.

With bonus season coming up, I have a feeling my PM is going to underpay me. Should I bring up the subject myself? Also, how do I get a sense of what I’m worth? I did not trade but was the main data guy and built a tool that is indispensable for our process. Is 10% of his cut of PnL reasonable?

When applying for a role, and the salary is listed as a range of 65-93k. Is the lower end the starting or is that the range of pay. For example, people at 65k are on low end, while people at 93k are high end? Should people be ask for the avg for compensation if that is the case?
