Salary question: Starting to think I’m getting underpaid as I am seeing some high salaries out there and curious to know what others in recruitment are making. Currently, recruiting manager (team of 5) 100% remote for a RPO, 8+ years experience in staffing in multiple areas (MSP, HRG, Branch Manager - agency) with international experience. Education: BA & CIPD HR Management Diploma (SHRM equivalent in the UK). Living in Chicago. Salary $70k 10% bonus, been told being bumped to $80k 12% bonus.

Not familiar as much with RPO side but I agree that as a manager out of a larger city, you could find something more competitive closer to at least $100K with 8 years of experience (plus people/performance management experience too)

Thank you for your response.

I’m not sure about RPO industry or Chicago comp bands but I used to lead a team of 5 as a Technical Recruiting Manager in Southern California and made $160k base with about $40k annual stock. That company paid the same for all 50 states and didn’t take into account for where you lived.

Thank you for your response.

You’re underpaid because you’re at the RPO. Definitely leave. You should be more at the 130-150 range

That is what I was wondering. I’m going to gain the experience I can whilst looking for other options out there. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

The salaries I’ve been seeing for recruiting manager when I do research is upwards of 120k. I get paid more than 70 just as a recruiter. I’m sure you know but when you look also look for Talent Manager.

like

Thank you for the response. I’ll definitely use that as a search term too.

I oversee 1 person currently in the security space out of Boston and I’m at $130K + $10K bonus and RSU’s. I would definitely think Chicago is a similar market to Boston depending on your industry.

Thank you.

Not too familiar with RPO’s but I’m in NYC making 125k base, not a manager by title but I’m responsible for 5 ppl. It’s seems like it’s time to ask for a raise based on your performance or update your resume.

Thank you for your response. Resume is updated and ready.

4 months of experience as recruiting assistant ($17/hr), now I’m a Sourcer for a tech company in LA and I’m making $72,800/yr

Thank you for your response.

I worked for an RPO, NYC based and had 1 direct report was making $120k + bonus. I would be pushing back for at least 110k base + bonus

Thank you for the response. I was thinking around that range.

You should definitely be over $100k with that level of experience and responsibilities.

Thank you for your response.

You are definitely being underpaid. I'm a Corporate Recruiter for a Fortune 500 and make 103k + 5% bonus and other benefits. I would definitely look for something more competitive.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

I’m in RPO and a manager of 5 direct reports and 4 under one of my leads. I was at $130k last year and bumped to $150k. Then started to look externally but told my boss. Was bumped to $185k. I am now paid what I was offered at several big banks. It’s been a crazy market recently and if money is important to you there’s a huge opportunity for increase.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I’m tired of being over worked and undervalued. Money isn’t everything, but it plays a part of it that’s for sure.

Hi! I have a quick question and could use some advice:

I have 1 job offer that is an hour away and pays 45k, after negotiations (Research Associate Position at a University) .

I have just interviewed for a position closer to home and a base salary of 65k, but haven’t heard back from them in about 2 days (He said he would make a decision by yesterday and I’ve reached out).
I have to decide on the first offer by Thursday but I haven’t heard back from the second yet. Thoughts on next move?
