- great for full time employees

- contractors are treated like trash and don't feel included

Any agencies with good parental leave policies? Or are most through short-term disability or only partial pay?

Hi fishes, I was tapped for an internal transfer to the research division of our company. I was lucky to be made a manager in my current workstream w/ only 2 years of experience (typically takes 4-10). The new dept originally offered me an managerial role based on that, but after speaking with higher ups, said they can’t give me a managerial role because of parity issues with other members of the team. The new comp offered with the analyst grade is only peanuts above my current pay. Advice?

Fish friends. I live in Kansas but am starting a new remote job working with a company North Carolina. Are there any tax experts out there who know how to not get screwed by how I manage my taxes with this new job?

About to start IVF process for baby 2 and only this group would understand - stabbing needles in your butt is a decidedly unsexy way of having a baby.

What current teaching trends are baffling to you? Why?

Reminder to everyone: use your 2021 vacation time. Don’t let it pass you by just because you’re not traveling. Take a long weekend once a month to nap and eat chips in sweat pants all day. We all need to do our part to normalize self care, and sitting at home doing “nothing” is just as worthy of a vacation day as pina coladas on the beach.

Rodeo lineup announced 🤠 anyone else volunteering on any of the committees?

Argued in court yesterday against a guy in a tan suit. Tan. Suit. I'm not kidding.

Any January whole30ers out there?

I made to do final round guys!!! Is there anything I should do differently?

Difference between Variable Life vs Variable Universal Life?

Hi... I am looking for the job change. I am having 9 years of experience in International Supply Chain.. Now I am planning to join Pharma company.. of anyone knows anything about job openings.. plz suggest..

Graduating 3L strongly considering joining the tax group at my firm (NYC, probably mostly transactional). Took federal income tax, partnership tax, and corporate tax in law school and did well enough.

Would really appreciate insight on the practice area, career progression/exits, job security, day to day life. Also open to any advice - what do you wish your juniors knew, things to read/learn before joining, whether to do an LLM/Tax clerkship, etc.

Thanks so much 🥰

Any insight on Shopify? A quick Google search tells me some things. Looking for inside POV.

The Home Depot (from a previous vendor)

- Interfaced with a few different people, all of whom seemed miserable.

- Very rigid brand — difficult to have fun.

- There’s not much trust or freedom for anyone. Just a cutthroat corporate prison.

- HQ built like a prison: few windows, thick security, & drab colors for miles. Their campus parking garage would experience its own rush hour gridlock with cars at a standstill waiting for the light outside to turn green so they could hop on 285

- Definitely toxic: talented people disappear without warning or explanation.
- Management aggressively micromanages with hidden agendas and unrealistic expectations.
- Very passive aggressive tactics used to drive results. Miserable experience.

Pros: ?

Software engineers can easily work 50-70h/week.
They are constantly trying to get the most out of you.

You might be able to transfer teams and life will be good again? :D

SoCal office is a hot mess

Pros: ?

- culture deck is something else: if they think they can do better than you, they will just let you go

- they think they’re the Yankees: if you’re batting.385, but they think there is someone out there who can bat .400, you’re going to get fired

- they will openly discuss at a meeting why you suck

- Reed Hastings' leadership style was once described as being "unencumbered by emotion". A VP once told him he's not a good listener and tends to be unempathetic.

Any insight on LinkedIn and contract roles?

Let's make this bowl a safe place for us to give our honest feedback about a company without it being edited or buried.

To make it easier to search: create a post for the company you want to review, adding your pros and cons!

- pays very well and has good perks

- Sr. VoIP Engineer w/ their head in the sand
- Totally bias management
- Poor content moderation, extremist content, inauthentic engagement, weakening democratic norms, amplifying divisive rhetoric, prolific scams, risk of identity theft... the list goes on and on.

Hey, everyone! I’m looking on guidance on equity. Does anyone have any insight on what's competitive and what I should be looking for in LatAm? For context, my client is a Series B startup with 200 employees, and we're helping them hire two Eng Lead roles. Thanks in advance! 🙂

- worked there for 8yrs had a very positive experience
(GSO supporting TCS)

- bullying and toxic culture
- HR is no help, ppl need to get lawyers involved
(from someone within TCS)

Let's start a thread to help each other get out of toxic cultures?

Out of the 50 companies we have represented here in this bowl, how many are treating their people well?

In the original thread, Cisco was the only one that seemed to be doing right by people. Who else here would vouch for their company?

- astounding financial benefits, great healthcare

- too many cultists
- closed culture with extremely compartmentalized information, working on a small piece of the puzzle, with reduced ability to demonstrate true value, unless already high up.
- collaboration across teams is made unusually difficult and doesn’t seem encouraged.
- not remote friendly -- making everyone go back

- fairly decent place to work (from someone who worked with the Vancouver and San Jose offices). never met a blue badger (permanent employee) who had awful things to say.

- Ashley Goodall (their SVP, Methods & Intelligence) co-authored a brilliant book on leadership and people management called “Nine Lies About Work” that makes me believe they can be an awesome place to work

- red badgers had low morale since they’re contract workers and can be terminated at any time
