Side note: much respect for surviving what I must assume was not an easy childhood and transition into adulthood. You’re a successful woman and mom. Bravo!

Don’t be too worried. I was one of the ones who commented there (with a 6year old and 3 year old who can say some hurtful things), but I have some seriously sweet kids. They ask others sitting alone to join them, share their most prized possessions, and love to snuggle and tell me how much they love me daily. My daughter won $5 at a school raffle and while searching for something to buy at the mall, ended up spending it on a gift for our nanny. My point in the other thread is that they’re kids! They say and do all sorts of things and sometimes it’s hurtful (in which case I tell them it hurts my feelings and I don’t like it, and I know they don’t mean it), but for the most part they’re still figuring out how to express and manage their emotions, which is totally normal and healthy.

I think it is helpful to read about what is developmentally appropriate at each age so that you know what is or is not out of the ordinary. I loved bringing up bebe but also maybe read a book like happiest toddler on the block to learn more.

I think the woman who wrote Expecting Better is also releasing a book on raising babies and toddlers. Supposed to be equally data driven. I loved expecting better so I have the new one on pre-order.

Positive Parenting Solutions and Susan Stiffelman have both been helpful for me with bigger kids when you get to that point.

Hope to learn more if you bought an apt in Manhattan, or if you decided against it (renting/moving to upstate/Long Island/Jersey). My husband and I are considering to have a baby soon and are thinking of buying and living in Manhattan for the next 10 years or so (looking at property under $2M). Please share what you considered as you were making the decision - I hate throwing away rent but also don’t want to trap ourselves in significant financial obligations. Thanks!

Moms, I am 14 weeks pregnant. At KPMG, the new year starts in October and basically by spring of the following year, so April 2021, is when they put people up for promotion for the following year. My goal is to make it on that promo list in April 2021 - But thats when I am due. When should I inform my team that I am pregnant and how do I let them know that I am still willing to work hard for this promo despite my pregnancy? Thank you!

Am I crazy for thinking being a mom is harder than working in biglaw? I’m a mid level associate and FTM currently on maternity leave and the amount of sleeplessness over the past few weeks have convinced me my job is a piece of cake in comparison. I’m so overwhelmed.

Anyone dealt with your sibling getting divorced and the SIL fallout? My brother is going though a divorce and it is ugly. She is saying he is “unfit” (he is not). He has a 32 yr old who I am very close to, and a 12 yr old who is my goddaughter. His ex was my bff and now she says he is an unfit father and trying to take away his parental rights. I am stunned. It has fractured us beyond what I thought possible. Do I stay neutral for the nieces? Do I shout at the top of my lungs he is a good guy?

How normal is it to be pulled off a trial team because you tell your boss you are moving after trial? I have a trial coming up first week of Oct. This case has been my baby, and I’m going to try it with my boss. I tell my boss up front that, for family reasons, I’ve gotten a new job and will be moving to another city two weeks after trial will likely end. He then gives my trial witnesses to another attorney, but is still going to make me do grunt work. Is he unreasonable or am I?

Recruiter from Amazon reached out for a phone screen for a L7 role st Amazon - Principal Product Manager, Technical. I'm a first year M and have been in consulting mostly. I do have the technical expertise the role requires but no product management experience per se. Think L7 at Amazon for me is a reach. My concern is if I interview and fail, I will be barred from interviewing from another role for 6 to 12 months. Should I give it a shot or save my chance for something more realistic (e.g. L6)?
