Some Drs say you don’t need the vaccine after you have recovered from covid. It is recommended because it’s unclear how long your natural immunity lasts. Your choice!
Antibodies aren’t as strong in people who’ve recovered. The vaccine can give you lasting protection!
Why would you not get it though? Can’t hurt to be extra safe. You can be choosy about which vaccine you get since it’s not an urgent need for you but why take the chance that you could be infected with another variant?
With less than 100 confirmed reinfections in the entire world, I think there's certainly legitimate questions around getting the vaccine if you've already had COVID. Side effects and complications from the vaccine are rare, though reinfections are basically statistically a non-issue as far as we can tell.
C1 makes a good point. I'd add that there have also been numerous stories of people testing positive for long periods of time after being infected. Couple that with false neg/pos results of certain tests and we may have some cases of presumed reinfection that aren't.
There is just so much we don't know and are continuing to learn. I had covid, it was not fun. Even though I'm still testing positive for antibodies (via Red Cross testing during blood/plasma donations), I chose to get vaccinated as everything I've read says that it can only really help extend resistance. I'll take a day of a reaction to the vaccine over going through covid again any time.

I had covid and still got vaccinated. My covid wasn’t even bad, like I didn’t even know I had it except I lost taste and smell
I have had covid and been vaccinated. Every doctor I talked to (and there has been a lot given my COVID hospitalization) has said to get it at the first chance I had, even if I was in my 90 day window of “protection” after covid. So grateful to have already received the vaccine.
There are a handful of people that have gotten Covid twice it’s rare but it happens. You’re not immune just because you’ve already gotten Covid but you are more resistant to getting it again. There are are also new strains of the virus to account for as well.
C2 - ouch. You are right about bad luck. Glad you are recovered. Hopefully, not getting any lasting/lingering issues from it.
Continued - like I need the vaccine? Anyone else have covid and recovered not getting the vax?
Some of these countries also define a period which a negative test/recovered person is. I.e. recovered in the past few months.

How long does the vaccine protection last? I thought it was only limited as well?

I know. I’m actually part of one of the studies to determine how long natural covid immunity lasts vs vaccine. Had to sign all kinds of stuff saying I agreed to the risk. For the good of mankind I guess.
