HELP PLEASE! !
Hello i got an offer from Brillio (joining in 2023) but as an intern i have experience of using go-lang as backend developer. So my question is should i join Brillo or look for some other companies. I don't know what type of clients Brillio have and tech they use.
Please help.

I am not a fan of unpaid internships. But the person's reply has used some facts to cover his requirement so all depends on the person who advertised and who applies for the job.
You will still get candidates who are happy to apply, get selected and work to get that experience.
But my personal preference is to pay a decend stipend for the work the intern does, especially for the internship programmes I have run and am still running in my software house.
2+ years of experience and a Bachelor Degree? If a candidate is coming to you with tangible years of experience then that’s not an intern… That’s $70k minimum 🙂
If they want unpaid, then get a student or new grad who needs a learning experience.
Fighting exploitation = negative energy? My how the turn tables...
I hope I get it! 🤞🏽

Unpaid internships are gross, so are the people who just go through life looking for things to be offended by
Please add "People who assume things about other people"
If an internship is meant to further education and gain basic experience…it cannot be an internship if you require a substantial amount of experience in the field…2+ yrs as a product designer is not that. Fellowship maybe? Internship absolutely not.

This. This likely violates Dept of Labor guidelines. So, illegal.
In my head, this person can go to hell and kiss both cheeks….disrespectfully.
Now the issue is not that it is unpaid as there are a number of unpaid internships for non profit or startups like this, HOWEVER, the turn off is their whole “clap back” they attempted in the response to this.
What they should have done is worked with a grant writer to get some grant money to fund an internship.
I remember this quote
"This is not a me problem, it's a you problem".
Unpaid role in a pre-funded start up should be paid in equity - intern or not. Imho - at this stage UX design is making a vision demo slick to investors excited about funding it
I don’t get what all the fuss is about. Like… who would even apply to that job? And if someone applies and gets it, then that’s great for them if that’s what they want to do.
I’m not going to tell two people they can’t enter into an agreement together that they consensually both choose.
If you really want to use s*x and r*pe as an analogy, my point would be “it’s not r*pe if you agree together that you want to have s*x”
Which is true. If there’s no coercion, then grown adults can do whatever they want. Posting a job (even a very stupid one with way too high of requirements and way to low of compensation (NONE)) is not coercing anyone.
Unpaid internships should be illegal. We have a minimum wage for a reason. If someone is going to perform labor for you you should pay them. The argument that some people would be okay with just getting the experience is the same as some people would be okay getting paid 2$/ hr.
Lol @ the fact that they know quite a few unpaid interns. Wonder why
I’m saying but if you’re not paying someone, you shouldn’t have a “wish-list” for an employee. If you want someone with years of experience under their belt, pay them!

The world is not fair. You can see there are 53 applicants already. Some will see it as exploitation. Others will see it as an opportunity to build experience for a better job. In the end whether or not this is right or fair comes down to your point of view.
I think the one thing this does it is favors kids that have families with money, because they can afford to work for free. Anyone else agree?
If someone posts an internship that’s unpaid, and there’s an individual that’s okay with that, who’s being exploited?
The applicant doesn’t have a gun to his/her head
This listing misrepresents itself. Its not an internship if it requires a degree and experience in the field. Its an unpaid job masquerading as an internship. So sure, someone could fall for it but its because the hiring company is using exploitative and dishonest tactics.
Terrible. Not sure how ppl sleep at night knowing their employees are not making money. I've always loved the feeling of paying someone fairly. I feel like I'm having an impact on their lives.
I've had several friends take unpaid internships to launch their careers (mostly while in school or directly after graduating). Makes me wonder what else the company is offering.
2 YOE and a laundry list of skills for an unpaid job? These folks are out of their minds!
I think the problem with unpaid internships is that it is a huge privilege to even take one. Most people need to work for a living. The ones that can take an unpaid role are the ones that have rich parents lol
The thing that triggers me the most is the experience requirement. Unpaid positions need to have like 0 experience inherently lol. Does an unpaid position even count as experience? Let’s be real

It’s possible there is more to the compensation story than reflected here. There could be equity … or it could be a ploy to find people who are eager to get in.
Certainly it’s on the applicant to work for pay
I’m sure any actual slave would much prefer to work as a UX/UI designer in an at-will employment agreement.
But sure, let’s pretend that those are the same.
I don't agree with an internship that asks for 2 years of experience! And full-time?
So either the experienced applicant can survive without income, or has to work part time on top of a full time internship.
