Class size? More teachers? There are only so many rooms in a building with a teacher and about 30 students. How is that going to work?
But how do you social distance on school buses? Gym class? Recess?
I don’t see how they can realistically space desks six feet apart. Especially if we have close to thirty kids in a classroom. I can barely fit them in my room with their desks all pushed together. And who watches them while they eat in the classroom? How do we enforce them staying six feet apart, realistically? Can you imagine the lines in the hallway?! lol
If I space all of my students with 6 feet of space all around them, how many students will I have in my classroom, about 6?
Lol! Silly non-teachers! They think this is so easy!😂😂😂😂😂
Good luck spacing in a portable..
Even if some kids came to school for a half day - some in the AM - some in the PM...6 ft apart is impossible
LOL sorry but I have 34 in my room with like two feet I between each...........
Not to mention...music classes....”No singing or use of wind instruments, harmonicas or other instruments that could spread COVID-19 through projected droplets”.
Exactly! How boring would music become with no singing, recorders or band instruments, and even dancing might cause problems.
Unless there’s going to be an increase in teachers and learning space in our bldg, it’s not feasible unless you alter the schedule not when kids attend school. In that case, students will literally be receiving less education (ex. half days, A B days, etc). What about bus issues? Schools would have to purchase an additional fleet of busses?!
We have buses?
I can only see this if we do blended schooling (half days for kids or every other day) so that we have about 50% capacity. Even then it won’t be very effective for distancing purposes
How many kids will be allowed now in a classroom? We are supposed to be at 24 in kindergarten 28 in 1st, up to 32 in 5th. Our classrooms are small. This isn't going to work.
At my school we have two students in double desks.
If we do AB days or AM PM who is with the kids at home? This is such an academic disaster for the low students that have little family support.
Do all of this already in SPED in my city
We just got new carpet this year at my school. There's no food allowed in classrooms.
I have heard of a school who is going back this school year. They will not be using school buses.
I was already serving breakfast in the classroom, now lunch, too?
The district is looking at various options, half kids on Monday Tuesday, other half Wednesday Thursday, Fridays?? Still, social distancing 14 students, at a time, in class doesn’t seem feasible either. Or, continue with remote learning.
The district is still studying options.

So how will families work out.
We already eat breakfast in the classroom, now we are going to eat lunch in the classroom, too! Yuck, more spills, more bananas oozing in desks, and more grapes rolling across the floor.. I have first graders.
Plus, after school programs eat in our classrooms, as well. Yuck.
Buses, how can they do social distancing? Nine buses three times a day. Will it be doubled, tripled?
I think the guidelines are nearly impossible to meet. We don’t have enough busses to accommodate one to a seat and skip rows. Not sure how eating in the classroom is going to help. There might be enough room in the class to do that with the desks but not all classes have desks. Many K-2 classes have tables.
