In risk.. advisor?? If so, not sure how far you’d get in getting into MBB
DM for referral
You will likely get placed what best suits your performance. Probably better to aim lower, get an offer and then have a discussion if you should be placed more senior
I left big 4 just after 2 year mark. I was also in risk.
What position to you apply for at BCG
I was in BR at Deloitte with MBB aspirations. It wasn't easy by any means. Took a long long time to get there, but totally worth it! I would say going to b-school (top 15) is the way to go. Longer way but higher likelihood of making it.
Why not applying for both?!
Go to bschool, lateral hiring has slowed down
Don’t think you can join directly as a Sr. BA
You’d be an experienced hire BA and perhaps level up at an accelerated pace
Lateral to another firm that even remotely does strat, spend 1-2 years, apply.
I can tell you that coming into my senior year of undergrad, I placed all my stock in risk consulting. After two back to back co-op/internships in the field, I realized I had 0 desire to do risk work. So, I reneged a Big4 offer, got myself blacklisted, received dozens of rejections from other companies, and went to work at a no name tech implementation firm’s strategy arm. Most saw it as a huge step down from “Big 4”.
However, I spent two years casing and tailoring my experiences for MBB to the best of my ability.
It worked, hence my above comment.
