I don't know who keeps spreading this idea of a Blacklist. How ridiculous. I used to work in HR. We don't have enough time to get our actual work done, then find extra time to be petty and curate a list of candidates who ghosted us. What people don't realize is that they're only one out of hundreds of potential candidates. Nobody has time to hold grudges.
It's one thing if you fell foul of some ethics violation, NDA, non-compete or other legal issue where hiring you could actually pose a liability for the entity. But we don't care enough to try to get even with anybody.
I don’t think anyone thinks there is an actual blacklist. It’s used as a figure of speech - the lead recruiters at the big 4 in my city definitely remember the candidates and people they interview. So I can understand why the question was asked If he/she is worried about reputation and doesn’t want to ruin future opportunities.
If you didn’t accept an offer already, you shouldn’t get blacklisted. Negotiations fall through all the time. If you were leaving solely because u felt underpaid and were able to match, then so be it. It’s the other firms fault for not getting you a salary enticing enough worth leaving for. On the other hand, why did u want to leave in the first place? The underlying issues won’t change so if there were problems and you aren’t happy, the salary bump likely won’t make a difference long term. If you just wanted to get a market assessment of ur worth, then you’ll be fine. The situation is different for everyone.
I mean you're at PWC.. I'd stay. It's not like you're at KPMG
With all the Ey scandals going on, EY is even worse than KPMG. Just saying .....
If you were looking I’m guessing there’s a reason you wanted to leave....don’t forget to consider that part.
Not at all, timing issues always come up and PA is always in need of experienced hires. Just be honest and I’m sure the recruiter would be happy to get back in touch if you change your mind down the line.
