Feel terrible about myself at the moment, been going through some emotional things the last year or two and have a fancy occasion to go to next week. Tried on various dresses in closet including recentish purchases that were up a size or two and nothing fits. Noticing crazy weight gain (not pregnant) and bloating constantly but unsure if I should go to a nutritionist, doctor for full work up, or start a food log. Don't eat fastfood and often times eating 1 meal a day etc. Anyone been here b4?
I feel sad for my baby because she has no family nearby to love on her. Both sets of extended families live abroad and haven’t met her yet because of the pandemic. Sometimes we are so tired after work that we just let her entertain herself most of the day. How can I create the best environment for her?
Parental leave question. In the US, assuming full pay, what are the birthing and non-birthing parent leave durations for McKinsey, Bain, BCG, and others?
I am a relatively new Project Leader at BCG and have a very crazy and packed schedule with no time to care for my food, exercise, etc. I just found out I am pregnant and I am nervous about how I will take care of myself and the baby with this busy lifestyle. I would love tips on how some of you navigated through this phase. How to ensure you are eating/exercising right? When/how to tell your bosses/team so that they are mindful? General tips for the first trimester? Should I change jobs?
Thoughts on quitting during parental leave?
I really want to buy a house but don’t want to over pay. I saw a property that’s $850K and Property taxes come to $15k. Does this seem reasonable? Married, baby on the way. Total household income is $400k and net worth 750k.
I found out today that my employer doesn’t offer any paid parental leave (maternity or paternity). This isn’t a major issue now, but my wife and I are planning on trying in a year or so from now. How many other employers don’t offer any paid leave at all? Coming from public accounting this seemed outrageous to me, but curious to see what other companies are like.
Wife and kid are going to be out of town for the next 2 weeks. Instead of wasting time, I’d like to do something productive. What would you do if you have say 3+ hours a day. Maybe self help, wealth creation type books, work out daily, take care of some things around the house.
Am I wrong? SIL (don’t get along) is having baby 2. She’s an “artist” read: stay at home mom, lived at home with parents all throughout college and postgrad until she married basically everything, provided by her husband who works a MODEST middle class job at a car dealership. Do I owe anything but a card when I show up to the “baby sprinkle”? Why are you entitled to my hard earned income when you chose not to provide anything but time to your own household?
My ex fiancé from 5 years ago literally started following me and liked pictures on my insta. He’s married with a kid now. Like why? 🤦🏻♀️
I don't think I'll ever be having a family with kids but totally jealous of parental leave/days off. Is that normal?
If you make a lump sum after tax HSA contribution, can you still deduct that from your taxes? Assuming it’s all under the applicable limits. Haven’t really contributed much to date, but wife is pregnant and has lots of bills due before year end and would like to use HSA if possible. Thanks!
Feel pretty close to getting an offer I’m excited about, but also JUST found out I am pregnant. Any advice on how to negotiate my role in such a way that it accommodates my pregnancy/motherhood? Cont.
So EY gives up to 16 weeks parental leave now... If you have a kid at the beginning of busy season do you still get promoted?
Do any other firms have a policy that requires you to return to work for a certain period after paid parental leave, and if you choose to leave you are required to pay it back? If so, is there anyone who decided to leave before the end of that period? What happens if you can’t afford to pay it back?
Joined the ACN Strategy Careers LinkedIn group. Literally every post is by Ruth Faulkner and about women/diversity/being a mother and professional, not about "the job". What a waste.
Anyone got advice on taking care of a sick parent? I’m 29, my dad passed away a few years ago and right now my mom is having some really troubling health issues so I’ve come home to support. Any advice at all is welcome, I feel in over my head
Slalom's maternity and paternity leave are well below industry average. I've heard rumors that this is slated to change but I haven't seen any action. Anyone have better Intel than nothing and rumors?
For couples who are not married yet - Do you guys talk about net worth, income, or anything even finance related? I know my SO earns more given his current industry, but thinks it’s rude to talk about those things. But I’m wondering… isn’t it normal for couples who live together or are married share those info? For example - How am I going to know what to pay for our child’s education in the future etc?
I’m pregnant and have been at my job for a few months to qualify for the state family leave which is only 4 weeks. I’m wondering what others have done to prolong their maternity leave when starting a new job.
Any advice for a newly pregnant consultant (6weeks in)? Do people usually go for appointments and scans without telling anyone at work till the required time to give notice? Currently on a busy project so a bit worried going through first trimester without work’s support, already struggling with energy levels and nausea
If I’m trying to leave in November (putting in notice in late October) when is the right time to start applying?
Feeling hurt as I saw my childhood friend (who I kept in touch with pre-covid) is out at a restaurant 5 minutes from my place. Used to do monthly zoom HHs with her the first 4-5 months of SAH but have since lost touch as I was being more cautious and she wasn’t due to (her reasons of) being single and not liking living with her elderly parents. I had offered to picnic but she never took the offer (and I haven’t seen her do it with other friends, she only dines at restaurants) (1/2)
I had my final interview with a partner two weeks ago and when I followed up with the recruiter twice, I got this feedback "I have not yet received an outcome or feedback following your most recent interview. As soon as I have an update I will get in touch as soon as possible." How does recruitment in the big 4 work? I am not sure why the partner hasn't sent feedback to the recruiter.

Culture question. I’ve always been environment where you get your work done, bill your hours, you’re good. This new job is focused on hours in the office. Is this normal? More in comments

Considering a post Christmas trip to Panama City, Panama. Is this a good place to visit? Covid restrictions seem bearable and it’s not outrageously priced. How long is too long to visit? Any input/recommendations welcome. Thanks!

Best consulting firms in Houston for Healthcare?
Anyone flown United basic economy to Europe? Does Silver elite status help with the seat they assign you or are you still getting a crappy seat regardless?
I’m only 2-3 years into my career and I feel like f*cking toilet paper — just spent a week of my life busting ass/working OT on a reduced salary (thanks COVID, love ya 😘) “designing” PPT presentations for clients I’ve never met. I know that’s normal, but it would be nice to know the ppl who constantly tell you to “jazz it up”... I’m just really, really questioning what I’m doing in advertising. I feel like I have absolutely no point right now and it doesn’t seem like that’s going to change.
