This won't change minds. The people concerned negative effects from the vaccine are worried about long term. Simply saying it's been a few months and we are all still ok doesn't take away the concern driving the low vaccination rates.

Man the anti-vax spin is strong in this thread. I assume you mean the polio vaccines tested in clinical trials in the 1930. Interesting that the FDA didn't approve a vaccine until the 1950s. There was one manufacturing issue the with Salk's vaccine post approval where they didn't properly inactivate it but medicines can be subject to recall as at anytime post-approval. Waiting doesn't help with manufacturing or tampering issues. People were poisoned by Tylenol in the 80s, decades after approval. Salk's vaccines was in clinical trial for less than 1 year and then went into millions of children's arms in a matter of months. They restarted vaccinations with Salk's vaccine months after the manufacturing issue and millions more were vaccinated with that same inactivated polio virus vaccine. There are vaccine shortages, the demand was so high. They switch to an attenuated vaccine because it was oral and single dose, not because it was safer or more effective. They also brought back IPV in the 2000 because it is more effective not less.

What would move the needle for me is getting rid of immunity (that currently lasts until 2024) for these companies.

I would be complaining much less about anti-vaxers if we had strict liability for the unvaccinated negligently infecting others or impacting vital services like schools. Something along the lines of the Texas anti-abortion law. A $10k bounty available for everyone you infect, with a presumption that if you are unvaccinated, sick, and come in contact with some who later tests positive for covid, you are at fault. Plus any actual damages from illness. Why worry about liability for pharma companies and not anti-vaxers.

The people in my extended network who are worried about vaccine health effects are worried about the long term effects, not the short term effects. Even the most robust clinical study that only looks at ~12 months of data isn't going to provide that long term safety data. I don't see this moving the needle amongst that demographic.

I don’t understand what anti vaxers propose we do? Btw not talking about the people who medically can’t get vaccinated - I feel bad for them getting grouped into this. But again what do anti vaxers propose? If they were Pfizer or moderna with a crucial discovery like mrna, would they just sit on it and wait for years of medical data and let the virus eliminate 30% of the population over 5 years? Wonderful. What a world we live in where basic science and math is being challenged. I’m glad our govt is run by a machinery that is partially immune to individual stupidity.

Less post makey More jab takey

Lol "wHaT aBoUt LoNg TeRm sIdE EfFeCtS?!" At this point, people who aren't vaccinated pretty much won't be until their friends or family start kicking out in droves, and even then, maybe not.

Might as well screenshot a Facebook post if you’re going to post links from shady websites

Hey D2, the website links to a JAMA research article. The website provides a summary, but I encourage you to read the peer reviewed research from a well established journal.

Notice the word “serious”, like what’s the threshold here? It’s subjective and could be purely bs. A fully vaxxed ex-statistician

If you were a fully vaxed clinician instead statistician, you would know that "serious" has a widely used, concrete, and pre-specified definition, which doesn't change from trial to trial. You can't get into JAMA if you aren't following the standard guidelines.
