Strongly recommend Hamilton in that price range. They have some solid automatics with high quality movements. I wear one on the daily
I have a Jazzmaster Chronograph that I received as a College graduation gift. Awesome watch
Recommend Christopher Ward Trident Pro or GMT lines
Oris diver 65
This! Exactly!

I think the club comes in around that price. Watchrecon can help you find a nice preowned one.
lol wut is a watch
Get a Seiko SKX007 (or a Seiko 5 Sport if you don't care for the SKX styling)--iconic diver and inexpensive (~$200). Then save the remainder for a better luxury sports watch. Other than the Oris mentioned above (credited), most of the other buys at this price point are wastes of money.
If you buy a Bulova, but it from amazon directly from Bulova. Nearly 50% off what they charge on their site.
Buy HMT. It’s good and reliable
Hamilton and Tissot would be my sub $1000 recs. I have a Bulova that I probably didn’t spend more than $250 on back when I was in college. It’s fine and I still wear it these days, but I couldn’t imagine spending more than that on a Bulova (maybe add $50 for inflation since my college days)
Frédérique constant
I have a slimline, def up there in quality.
Marathon GSAR. Look them up
Just don’t buy a $1,000 watch. That’s an asset that will depreciate, not last you a lifetime, and not hold any long term value (and you won’t pass it on to your kid)
wait a bit, cross the 5 or 6k hurdle and get a decent omega or JLC that will be a piece worth owning for life and that will hold its value
@A2 I agree, I personally prefer vintage

I’m sorry, but who in their right mind decides to promote a brand forever associated with the proverbial “s***”?
B&M classima all day
Hamilton 100%
Oris and Seiko would be my top choices in that range, but like the others have suggested Hamilton, Tissot, and Longines are solid choices too.
If you aren’t set on getting a brand new watch, you might have a few more options
Vintage Grand Seiko, Movado, and some of the higher end Bulova models are really great and at your price point.
You can also find great vintage Omega watches for under $1K on sites like eBay, Chrono24, and the like.
