According to Glassdoor.com, 56 to 81k for Seattle
I think he is just testing the waters. Seems like a generous payout for a standard S1. Is he specialized in any particular set of skills?
Public or Industry? There’s a big gap here
In a previous life - when I was promoted to senior in audit at top 5-6 firm, new salary was $63K as S1 (2016). Then S2 was $68k. Felt I was underpaid, but everybody does.

Hmm thank you guys for the responses. I am in industry paying a S1 for about 90000. Recently he complained a lot about not being paid enough so I am worried.
A staff 1 should be making $50k max!!!! $90k is WAY WAY too high
Your S1 sounds like a brat. I’m an S2 in Seattle making significantly less than that. He needs to suck it up and be grateful.
He is pretty smart and I like him a lot. I have been under budget pressure for a while so this year probably will not get him too much of a raise. Hopefully he understands. Sigh.
OP, trust me when I say your S1 is being paid very very well. I highly doubt even a BIG4 would offer over 90+ for a 1st or 2nd year senior auditor. Idk anyone who is making nearly that much and I live in a high COL area.
If he was in advisory or consulting different story tho but not in assurance
