Second time moms: just found out I’m pregnant with my second, 7 months before we planned to start trying 😳. My first is ~26 lbs - thoughts on lifting her? And when did you start showing? Any “second time” tips greatly appreciated!

Lifting is ok, but I'd recommend looking into exercises to prevent and help diastasis recti, especially if this is your second time pregnant in a short time. I didn't have issues with my first pregnancy, but did after lifting my toddler throughout my second pregnancy. Specifically, learn how to properly brace your abdominals before lifting!

Congrats! I am 30 weeks pregnant and still lift my son who is 2.5/30 lbs...wish I could avoid but he’s not all that independent some days. Showed really early - 10 weeks or so - but I’ve been an early weight gainer in both pregnancies. It’s been exhausting running after one while pregnant and I definitely feel a lot of guilt like I can’t do it all, but am really excited for the new addition and am trying to soak in one on one time with my son for now.

You’re not really restricted from heavy lifting until much later. By the time you shouldn’t be lifting more than 30lbs you’ll likely be showing and she might be old enough to understand why you can’t pick her up.

Started showing at 15 weeks, clothes uncomftable at 10. I lifted my first throughout - he was 2 when the baby was born and average size. Can't remember his weight.

I lift my 28 lb 2 year old up our 4 story townhome daily! Avoided doing that for a few days postpartum, but otherwise no issues in my day to date activities

11 weeks pregnant with #2 & lift my 26 lb daughter no problem. I have lost 10 lbs (I throw up daily even with Rx meds) & still had to get out maternity clothes at 8 weeks, started showing last week. 😶

Thanks, all! Really appreciate the perspectives.

I’m thinking of quitting breastfeeding. My baby is 5 months old, and my pump just broke, and I don’t think she’s eating enough and she wakes up all the time at night hungry. I’m just tired of it. I’d rather just give her bottles and call it a day. Ready for my husband to take the night feeds, ready to be able to have a drink without worrying about when I have to feed the baby. The actual breastfeeding has been easy, which is why I feel guilty for “quitting.”

Hello Childfree Friends! Question (slightly grim but I intend for it to be lighthearted)— what do people without kids plan on doing with their estate/ wealth once you’re sniffing the daisies? People always talk about how they’re “working to leave something for the kids” and unfortunately I don’t think my fur baby legally counts. It’s been something on my mind lately & I’d love to hear what others who are child-free are planning. There’s obviously spouse, parents, siblings, but what else?

I went out to work and my husband had packed up some of his stuff and left without leaving a note. I was able to get in touch with him and know where he is and that he wants to take a break. I was in care as a child and I dont have parents to speak to, and my friends have to go to sleep at some point. What are the first things I need to do to keep safe and are reasonable? He isn't violent and the joint account has nothing in it.

Latest word on the street for any provider systems hiring? Seems most are still on a freeze for non-clinical roles.
