Yay! Sometimes it can bring opportunities your way that align with your personal interests. As a recruiter, if I were looking for someone to work on a certain type of client, I often search for keywords that align with the client’s industry.
Whoa, this is shocking news to me! I've always heard they're irrelevant and to take them off, unless it's somehow related to the job, or is a leadership or volunteer position. So people who are really into yoga just put that on their resume....?
You can put volunteer activities and groups you belong to just as much as saying you are an avid marathon runner or international traveler. It’s up to each person.
I don’t do it on my resume but I have a one-liner about it on my Linkedin page
I like seeing what an applicant is into outside of work and creates a talking point. I remember interviewing someone and I asked what they enjoyed doing unrelated to work. She was absolutely stumped.
