I want to expand my skill set so I can move into a better position within IT and hopefully be fully remote. Looking for suggestions on the best ways to do this without actually going back to a college/university with all the expense. Is Coursera worth while?
Folks who have applied for L1A in the past - what do you respond when questioned about budgetary authority? I understand that this would be the expense budget on my clients which I’m managing, but not sure if I’m missing anything else
I am scheduled for a inventory call next week. I just moved to from Chicago so I don’t have g car here. Comminuted with the Rm that I don’t have the car and she suggested that I reach out to the audit engagement team to see if I can Uber. I did that and given the distance of almost 2hours, the senior responded saying they pretty much can’t reimburse me for that. What can I do since I don’t have a car? Open to suggestions! I really wish I had a car to drive down there but I don’t.
Hi Team, My expense entered last week under Well Being Subsidy was Processed but I have got a mail today from Compliance that the product is not eligible for the Well Being expense and the expense would be reversed, so shall I go ahead and add negative expense in the report and then buy something with that amount eligible under Well Being and raise the new reimbursement today? My LWD is tomorrow and don’t want to miss out on the subsidy.

Hi! I currently work at a hospital as a per diem pharmacist and have been there for over 12 years. We haven’t had a raise in over 6 years. I am going to talk to my boss soon to ask for a raise. I was wondering what other pharmacists make in the Philadelphia area so I know how much I should ask for. Thank you!
Did Deloitte have a late-night Uber policy before the pandemic? Joining in a month and also moving and wondering how much I should consider it. For context, my current company had a policy pre-pandemic where we could Uber home every time we worked after 7PM and we could expense meals as well during those days.
Silly question- but how do you work from home? I could do it in small amounts and with small projects with simple things. But I can’t do any type of excel work or testing on my small laptop. I’m thinking about setting up an office for two screens and a standing desk. Would work reimburse that? (If they are primarily WFH)
Can I reimburse this for Wellbeing subsidy??

Hey all! Anyone here have recommendations for good restaurants in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs? I'll be moving to the area soon and my parents are helping me out so I want to make a list of restaurants that they'd enjoy while they're there. They enjoy Mexican, Mediterranean (think falafel), and Indian best.
I have already received a bunch of Indian restaurants recommendations but open to more!

How long did it take before you felt comfortable and like you weren't just taking way longer on assignments than expected? Just got called out for our bill being too high (yes, there will be a write-off). For context I am a second year associate, but retooled to real estate less than a year ago. So, starting over again really.

Is anyone hiring post-fed clerkship litigation associates in NY or DC right now? Seems like the headcount at every biglaw and boutique firm is being siphoned off to corporate positions...

What would be good consulting companies (e.g., Big 4) I could join after MBB? Which companies would be interest in hiring ex-MBBs where you could get comparable benefits, a similar trajectory, and a higher position from the start?
Can anyone shed some positivity on the below situation if you have done it before. I wanted a certain job for last 3 years finally got the offer and reality sunk in that I would not have the same WLB I have now and I would miss out on a lot of things for my kids. About to turn down the job and 30k in bonus. Feel it’s the right thing to do but have some fear of regret for giving up the 30k bonus. It’s a lot of money but I don’t need it to survive.
What’s something you don’t understand?
Caught a peak of the advisory utilization numbers...could see layoffs at KPMG as well. HUGE amount of 0% on the year with 0% forecast in retain. Also heard parts of RC just got reorganized at the top
I don't want MBB here anymore. I'm too jelly every time I read them posts. I'd rather wallow in my ignorant bliss.
Is anyone still happy at work? Since moving to MBB I don't recall enjoying what I do anymore. Not sure if it's the job or the pandemic.
Expense paid at actual (official policy is $50 a day but very few projects use that), lunch can be expenses too. Phone is paid at 100% if you use a Deloitte phone - you need to give it back if you leave. Reimbursed at 80% if you have 1 phone a no caps. TSA Pre is paid for. Taxi paid for if you work past 6 Pm in the office. $20 a day for gym while traveling. $500 fitness subsidy per year. First class only for 7 hour+ flights. Senior Managers get 1 airline club paid for.
Considering how good the firms other benefits are it doesn't bother me.
Expense policy for meals is "reasonable", and has been for a while now @D1. Check the APRs...
I spend about 500 a week on food and booze and company phone is paid 100 percent.
You have to pay for your corporate card's fee? How is that not reimbursable if it's use is mandatory?
And by the way what issues are happening at EY - I have been too ignorant lately.
OP - Amex waives off your first year fee for Deloitte new hires. You need to ask though. They've waived mine but you need to ask. I've known a few who asked but got denied.
Deloitte's policy is v good.
What's the corporate credit card? Good rewards points program? Also, are there any expenses you can't use the corporate card for?
Corporate AmEX. You pay for it $95 a year. Corporate card must be used for everything especially flights and hotels.
If you want the point, you pay the fee.
U only have to pay if you want to enroll in the rewards program (which is a no brainer)
D1-agree. MR is the worst point program out there. But no receipts (except hotels) and auto import make up for that in my books.
I am not sure why there is an expense policy question. In my mind, expense policies of big 4s are very conservative and is not based on measures of austerity. If your business travel spend is same as what your personal travel spend would be - no one should ever be worried. If you abuse corporate card - it should be a reason to worry.
