Nope. I take adderall and people talk about it being meth lite. I’ve never been addicted to it nor do I feel I would be.
Absolutely. It is addictive whether you have ADHD or not. Idk why people keep pretending that having ADHD and needing the med precludes you from chance of addiction to the med. a) ADHD people have more addictive tendencies (the need for dopamine hits) and b) the drugs literal job is to directly target your pleasure sensors - there’s no more direct route to addiction if you think about pleasure/reward/reinforcement.
Yes and even more concerned about brain damage from long term use. Baby meth is neurotoxic in all the test animals and then of course the long term effect on humans is left as “unknown”. Best bet is that taking amphetamines every day over several years is probably not healthy. I just hope I got out early enough before my 5-6 years of use fried my brain too much. So many people are diagnosed by filling out a couple of forms and boom “I have ADHD! The Adderall makes me function at a normal level now.” Haha no brotha, that’s speed and you feel good. A lot of people who take it every day say they’re not hooked but imagine trying to take away their amphetamines. I’m not trying to only hate here. I took it and absolutely loved the drug for a year or so until it just felt like I deteriorated. But I knew I was taking speed and would like to see more people acknowledge that they’re taking a hell of a drug. This isn’t insulin to a diabetic. Take away someone’s adderall they ain’t gonna die.
Same as Accenture 1, except I take Adzenys. The people who actually need the meds experience them differently than people who take them recreationally.
I am a late 40s diagnosed ADHD/Dyslexic (and a lefty!) Before rehab I was prescribed Adderall time release and then moved to Strattera (for ADHD) and Topimax (migraine med used to curb impulsivity) neither of which are physically addicting substances.
Thankfully, me and the squirrels aren't on a first name basis any more, but if something catches my eye...that's my next 45 min. No matter what.
