Need some advice. Work for AT&T corp Store Manager. Been in wireless industry for about 14 years. Base is about 60k and commission and incentives add to 35k extra. Single dad and have worries making less then 80-85k if I change companies. Don’t have degree but considered a top store managing about 20 people. Not getting the opp to progress past this level. I’m interviewing for an in-house PR role (mostly content/media relations) at a digital company. I’ve had 3 interviews so far and completed one extensive writing assessment (800-word article). I’m pretty sure I have the job, and had a great interview with VP of Corp. Comms. today. She mentioned she had no hesitations about my qualifications. But the HR mgr said they now want me to do a 2nd assessment “just to dot their i’s” and they want a 750-word release by Monday. Is this normal?

I’m new in a dual media relations/digital role. I found myself surprised to see that the digital team actually has account editing video/designing graphics. Is this normal? Before I was at a larger agency where creative would be called in to do this work. We have a creative team at this new agency so I’m not sure why they aren’t called to support. It seems a bit unprofessional as these executives are clearly not ‘pros’ in this area of designing/editing.

What kind of Masters program would you recommend for someone hoping to make it into a senior leadership/executive role in Comms/PR? I have over 6 yrs of experience in Comms in public/private sector. However, I haven't had any formal education in Comms/Journalism which I have felt always put me at a disadvantage. First time ask here: I was interviewing for an Executive and Internal Comms Manager role and after three stages, I got word that the role has been paused but the executive I would be supporting if I had gotten the role now wants me to interview for Chief of staff. Is that a good move? I'll definitely still be writing for the executive but who knows if that transition makes sense?
