Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. I decided do go ahead Right now I'm waiting for their response and the position I applied to changed from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration". Thoughts?

Simon Sinek and Adam Grant have lots of great material on leadership
I enjoyed the 7 habits of highly effective people. I also stand by the mountain is you, although it's more about overcoming personal issues to become the best version of yourself, and not being afraid of success. Interested if someone has one that's industry specfic.
To add, I’d love to learn more about how to be an effective leader and how to create and maintain a positive work environment. I’m sure there will be some courses for me to go through once I get started but I’d like to jump start my learning!
Do you mind me asking what role you have now and what leadership role you landed? I’m trying doing research about what career paths look like in HR :)
Congratulations! First book that comes to mind is “Four Stages of Psychological Safety” by Tim Clark. It’s a short read and is actionable especially if you’re looking to create a positive work environment.
“Crucial Conversations” and Cialdini’s “Influence” and “Pre-suasion”.
I really liked the energy bus by Jon Gordon. It’s about team work from a leadership perspective. Depending on the environment, you may like Creativity Inc. about Ed Catmull who was a core leader at Pixar. It’s a very interesting read for people who lead in a creative environment or solution focused outcomes. I also second some of the other suggestions. Simon Sinek is great and the 7 Habits of Highly Effective people.
If you’re leading in a challenging, results oriented environment, I think Dare to lead would be great as well.
All of these are by Simon Sinek he also has a great Ted Talk.
1)Start with Why
2)Leaders eat Last
3)The Infinite Game
Congratulations! I would recommend these two books for new HR leaders. There is also an HR of One course starting next month. Find it on LinkedIn (HR Girlfriends Group).

I just bought the making of a manager for myself after hearing some great reviews
The Leader Lab: Core Skills to Become a Great Manager, Faster
By LeeAnn Renninger and Tania Luna
Brene Brown has a book called "Dare to Lead". It's a little uncomfortable in some settings, and really requires you and your team to be vulnerable with each other, but it definitely improved our team communication.
