Anyone have any book recommendations for real estate investing? There’s a lot of crap out there. Looking for a more serious book for someone who already understands finance and real estate basics.
Any good books/resources for a 1st year commercial finance associate? I keep feeling like I’m thrown in the middle of deals and I don’t understand the big picture of what’s happening. I suppose I’m looking for an overview of the life of a typical deal or something along those lines. I just want to find my footing a little faster. 3-months in I still feel pretty lost.
Any recs for new or under-the-radar finance blogs, books, programs, etc. to read/watch while isolating at home? I think I've read everything on my usuals list. Nothing to do but work more...
I was asked by a friend for a few management consultant books (similar to liar's poker in the finance industry) to check out. The only one I can think of is Peter Drucker's Adventures of a Bystander (good but not too much consulting)... any suggestions! 😁
What do finance guys want as a birthday gift from girlfriend? Budget is around $300-$500. I usually book flights or hotels, but I can’t do that this year.
Anyone have any good recommendations on books for finance basics on different investment vehicles in PE, VC, and IB (PIPEs, Series A, converts, etc...)?
Best books to start brushing up on finance skills relevant to PE/DD work? Might be looking to lateral somewhere that focuses on it and would like to have a bit of a foundational knowledge so I don't sound like an idiot while networking with people.
What is everyone’s top 1 or 2 favorite books on personal finance? I’m always looking for a new one to bring into the fold of what I’m doing
Ideas on where to go to get schooled on corporate finance must-knows? How to read 10K filings, capex/opex, IRR etc. Looking for online or book options please.
Recommendations of good books to listen to during a drive or in the gym. I have credits on audible and I need to use them. I am mostly interested in finance, real estate, entrepreneurship, anything that will motivate me to get rid of a 9-5. TIA.
My accounting edge finance is not compatible with the new Mac OS. I do not need the $15/month subscription they offering as an upgrade since I’m a lone freelancer. I’ve always kept my own books and did my own taxes. Anyone else out there with a basic bookkeeping program recommendation for Mac would be appreciated.
I’m a history major and have a hard time understanding when people talk about finance or accounting. Any books that you guys can recommend that might help?
Best personal finance/investing books? I’ve read a few “beginner” ones like I will teach you to be rich but would love to read some more
Suggestions on an intro book to personal finance/investing? 25 y/o with no interest in actively managing a portfolio but want to set myself up for long-term financial freedom
Not sure if anyone asked this before, but what are some of the best books that you’ve ready about money, investing, and finance that you’ve read and you always go by? And if not books then YouTubers, IG, etc…
Looking for non-fiction book recommendations - doesn't have to be finance related. The last ones I read and really enjoyed were Misbehaving by Richard Thaler and Gene by Siddhartha Mukherjee.
What do you'll tell a recruiter when asked if you're interviewing with other companies? If you're interviewing with a competitor but nowhere close to the final round, is it worth mentioning?
I want to get on a new project and I need guidance on how a SC starts to pursue their own projects. Up until now I’ve been told to wait for your manager/practice leader to assign projects to you, but that’s landed me in a situation where I’m under-utilized and on an engagement that has nothing to do with what I want to do. Plz help.
I’m still fuzzy on this whole innovation thing. People are still getting hired to the role. What do they do? They seem to be nothing more than pundits. Someone else could be hired for that salary.
Being the noobie points chaser that I am, I booked flights to LGA (Delta) for a week in NJ instead of EWR (United) without having heard about the nightmare new traffic pattern. Is it really that bad?
When should I tell my boss/team that I’m expecting? I’m fully remote and don’t have to worry about “showing” at work, but want to give my colleagues ample heads up without jumping the gun too soon
I have set my LinkedIn settings to “seeking opportunities” and I’ve gotten some talent search recruiters reach out to me to put me in contact with companies who are hiring. Should I go through a recruiter or try to seek out opportunities on my own?
EY 🐠: wdyt is the appropriate salary range for SC1, Tier 1 city, Masters, 2YOE (I know, im surprised about the offer too with < 4yrs).
What is Ropes & Gray doing with its wfh/flexible arrangement when attorneys do go back to offices?
Currently working at Accenture as a C (promoted Dec ‘19), but I know I ultimately want to make the jump over to Deloitte. I am on track to be promoted to M in the 2021 promo cycle and I know Deloitte would likely knock me down one level either way. Due to COVID-19, it seems like it doesn’t make sense to jump ship for at least another year while things get back to normal. Any thoughts on if it’s better to wait it out and leave after making M (but how long after?) or try to leave earlier? TIA
Has anyone else had problems getting extensions for discovery responses from opposing counsel in light of the pandemic? Most lawyers have been copacetic, but I have one that’s stubborn.
Does anyone else feel like WFH has made higher ups notice you more? I feel like when we were in the office I was always judged by my looks, how young I was, my ability to make small talk, etc., but not the content or quality of my work. Now that the only thing they have to judge me on is my work, it seems like everyone wants to work for me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful but also TERRIFIED to go back in the office and watch all that momentum go down the drain.
Pawns of scatterplot, rise from your hotel beds and conquer your client floors. Those decks won't happen on their own
Have an approved 140 from previous employers, current employer filed the PERM which went into Audit. While I understand that about 20-25% of the PERM applications are subject to random audit, wondering if it impacts anything? Visa stamping (from home country) or extension, in particular?
Hi Everyone, I am looking for an opportunity in HR in Delhi, India. I have 7 years of experience in HR Operations and Recruitment. Can anyone help me on this.
Need to find my job for a friend: she’s got 10+ YOE in pharma validation and quality. Looking for Philly area job (or remote) that’s more chill/not high stress. Any ideas of roles to look for?
Hi All, I need some suggestions. I am currently working in a Big 4 post my MBA from tier 2 IIM college as consultant but the work is pure PMO work which I am doing right now. I am completely confused about my career track and have no idea whether the PMO work will help me or not in long run. Not sure about the exit opportunities from this role? And what if I keep doing this pmo work, where will I land up? I wish to transit into a product manager or may be program manager role.
