With the exception of Europe, I’d say Puerto Rico. Ticks all the boxes, is a super short flight and will be cheaper than most anywhere in Europe.
Puerto Rico is really fun! I went and saw the rain forest and bioluminescent kayak tour at night. And there are frog noises all the time. It's magical. Now I wanna go back
What about just driving or taking the train up to Montreal and sort of getting the French-European vibe but staying in North America (therefore very affordable)? You can eat French food AND poutine and I think there are nice outdoor things happening.
Love this!!
Congratulations on new job! I am living vicariously through you right now… i did some great solo trips: Helsinki- small, intimate- great architecture. Stockholm: larger, but lovely as well, easy to navigate. Lisbon- adorable- great food and wine, old world charm. Take train to Porto. As a woman traveling alone I felt safe in the three cities. With the war going on, not sure how you feel about going to the other side of the Atlantic. But, whatever you do, hope you recharge and gain fresh perspectives. ✨
Thank you! Actually going to Lisbon and Porto in June haha and really looking forward to it! (Definitely trying to stay in Western Europe and purchasing travel insurance, researching embassies, etc.)
I also start 5/2 and am trying to use my two weeks off to plan a very similar vacation for a month in, that I am going to say was “pre planned”. I’ll just be here lol 👁👄👁
Hahaha LOL YES - it’s a discretionary PTO situation where I’m going sooooo 🤗 haha figure I’ll mention it soon but not before the contact is official 🙃
Athens, Greece! Weather is perfect this time of year, and it’s a very easy trip from NYC – The direct Emirates flight out of EWR is usually reasonable in price.
And congrats on the new gig/offer! 👏🏻
It’ll be nippy at night, but temps look great during the day (high 60s to mid 70s). I hear it gets stupid hot during the summer, so spring or fall is the best time to go if you don’t wanna melt.
I also found Iceland was super safe and a much shorter flight than one would think from NY!
Ooo! I’ve really only been there for a quick layover 1.5 day (back when wow airlines still existed lmao) haha and did blue lagoon and a few meals but nothing else! 🙃
