Hyderabad is the best location for any company in the world.
That's why we see companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, Service Now, Apple here.
Hopefully interviews are taken by people other than locals.
Chief
Happened with me not during the interview but during my time at Amazon. My team had almost all the members from Hyderabad only and they clearly showed favouritism towards their own. Glad I left.
Never join a team where all members are from same region and you are not.
Unity and integrity of the whole country 😳. Managers are not fools to select the less productive candidate. The ultimate goal is to get the job done.
If two candidates with the same performance in the interview, they may prefer to select the person from the same region .
This happens everywhere in India.
I said it can snowball. If every state starts practicing these tactics, you won't be able to work in any state other than yours.
Thankfully, we don't see these practices in Bangalore, Pune and Gurgaon.
Mumbai and Bangalore are the most cosmopolitan of all the cities in India. People in other locations are less tolerant and don’t easily accept people coming from different cultures.
Hence, both these cities progressed much faster as compared to others since it’s easier to attract talent
Hopefully companies in other locations realise this and take steps to prevent such practices.
For now, I am not applying to any job opportunity based out of Hyderabad.
It's everywhere but Hyderabad is king for this. Feel really sad when language takes precedence over skills.
I think this is okay for the companies unless there is an impact on productivity.
Why is this okay?? Whatever you are suggesting can snowball to become a threat to the unity and integrity of India.
And definitely productivity is affected. A skilled candidate will perform much better than the one who's selected just because of the language they speak.
All industries should move to UP now 🤪
Yeah agree it’s worse in south
How do you quote the word regionalism here. ?
Maybe I am wrong. And I hope that's the case because people should be selected on the basis of skills.
But I saw that position filled by a person of that region. Again, I might be wrong and that person truly deserved the role based on his skillset.
But it definitely hit the wrong note for me.
Companies usually prefer candidates from same region. Reason being that someone from another region tends to leave earlier because at some point of time they tends to shift to city near to their hometown. At least that's what I understood from my interactions with TA team.
Can't deny the favorism although.

Happened with me as well. That too with Salesforce.
Dude you can always ask if they need Hyderabad resident or anyone can apply.
Most of the times PPL are rejected due to cost of relocation.
They were clearly fine with relocation. Issue is not with the HR team. Issue is regarding an individual interviewer who was a local.
Sorry to hear that. But it sounds like it was a blessing in disguise! Something better will come along.
Regionalism not only comes from locals. Sometimes non locals prefers to hire candidates from their state.
Well I got rejected in Amazon after answering all the questions where the panel consisted of North Indians.
