Seems to be a lot of available apartments at cheap prices. My 1 year lease ends in January (though I haven’t spent a single night there yet thanks to covid). Do we think prices will stay low or jump when we start working in person again?

They will stay low throughout all of 2021 and possibly 2022. More people are leaving than arriving. That attrition will continue for the foreseeable future.

I think you need to consider when “we” (largely financial service professionals who were partially accustomed to WFH) go back will probably be on the tail end of the (likely, but elongated) bell curve.

If that is true, by the time that “we” go back, I would expect rents to have bottomed out and started to recover. Does that mean they will be higher (or lower) than now? No one knows, but nothing you and I (as people with existing leases) can do at the moment.

Has anyone just been feeling pretty sad and down these past few months? I’ve never really felt this way pre-pandemic but now no matter what I do (workout, talk to friends, yoga) I still feel waves of sadness. I live in a cold city with strict covid lockdowns so I know that that is contributing to my sadness but just wanted to see if anyone else feels like this and how you are coping? I also haven’t traveled or gone on many social outings since last March so Ik that is taking a toll on me as well

Child care , living expenses - 4-4.5k, investments in india - 2.5k, I have up to 2-2.5k left every month. Should I be putting all of it in ETFs ? That would be about 33%-25% of my salary. My lease is up to the mid of Mar’22. I love the building and just move for personal reason. I can send you pictures over. The monthly rent is $2,200.
