I tried it a few years ago but didn't keep it up as a lifestyle:
+ It really does work, I lost weight rather quickly
+ I think my skin was also clearer and I generally felt better
- It takes some getting used to; sugar withdrawal is real and for the first week or so I was very tired
- Food becomes boring and almost unpleasant when you cut out carbs
I've been on it for about 10 days. But I was already low carb. Hard to eat all the fat for me. I do not like butter in my coffee.
Pros- weight loss is so fast and easy. You feel energetic and even and never bloated. There's no 'slump' or 'foggy brain' it's the opposite- it's like being an optimal human. Surprising how easy it is to navigate life. Cons- your relationship with food changes, it becomes an afterthought. You don't crave anything. If you're used to the carb/sugar craving rollercoaster, it feels almost not human to not be obsessed with food. My tip? Keep going and get over that hurdle of what 'normal' is. Feel your best, look your best, make life easier and more fun by focusing on life and people and not your plate. Food is five minutes, life is the rest of it.
I tried but cutting down alcohol was not in the card for me. Instead I eat and drink moderately and hit the gym regularly.
Pros: I feel amazing. Head is clear and I have lots of energy.
Cons: Sometimes it's hard to do while traveling. Also keto flu is a real bitch.
Food is my whole life 😩 the thought of it becoming an afterthought is sad to me. I'm interested in doing keto for the energy and increased focus - as opposed to the weight loss. Is it worth it from that perspective?
Absolutely. But I agree with D2, everything changed if you stick to it. Food is fuel first and foremost to me. I look at electrolyte content second, taste is third.
