Does anyone else ever feel like Deloitte is a cult? Just took some PTO and as much as I like it here, I'm starting to wonder if I am submitting to some cult and whether I should be concerned
What do you girls wear to holiday parties ?
Hey all! How is your firm handling travel? Is it voluntary or they start shifting towards a “no choice” to decide model? Is there any incentive from the firms to start traveling? Financial, PTO?
Max 401k or use money to invest in my cash management accounts? I am maxing out the max my company will match for 401k but should I aim for the $19500 limit or invest the rest of the cash the company doesn’t match and invest it in my investment accounts? My investment funds are more liquid but it’s using post tax dollars. Looking to buy a house in the next 1-2 years.
Any US employees have a house in an EU country where you spend a portion of your time? Looking to buy a vacation home in Spain and spend bench time/weekends there. How do you make it work?
Having grown up in the lower middle class and not with much money family wise, I always thought one day when I made six figures I would have tons of money coming in, but lately I am discouraged with my “take home pay”. Combined my wife and I make about $275k, we max both our 401k accounts out and after all taxes, and other deductions we take home roughly $150k. Don’t get me wrong this is a great amount. I just always dreamed my take home would be more. Anyone else feel this way? We lose over 40%
What percentage of your day are y’all productively working? Lately I’ve been super distracted on my phone, personal email, holiday plans, posting about all the above on fishbowl, and I’m trying to figure out if it’s just me.
What is the senior principal starting salary range Slalom Consulting if you are coming in with consulting experience? What is their 401k policy? And typical new hire signing bonus? Do they have a negotiation pattern?
Need help deciding on a location for my family's vacation. It would be my family and my brother's family (4 adults&3kids). I am thinking PR, Mexico or Hawaii. What do you guys recommend? Open to other kid friendly beach locations as well. TIA
Does Pennsylvania require companies to pay out unused PTO? I can’t find any wording regarding that in my contract.
Age/Savings (excluding 401k)
Neither of my parents have a 401k, investments, or savings. They have nothing. I want to help them retire at 65 which would be about 15 years away. I’m looking to put about $15k/ year until then into an account for them. A couple questions i have though: 1. What type of investment account would be best to maximize? 2. Once gifted to them, will they be taxed if they receive a certain amount? I have little to no knowledge in investing so I’m open to any other ideas and/or advice.
I have about 40k in traditional 401k at Meryl from my previous big4 employer. This is the first time ever changing jobs and I feel totally confused with what to do with the 401k. Any advice please? Amazon has fidelity and It alllws rollover old 401k into a rollover ira. Is it work keeping as is , or rollover into ira(Roth/traditional) at Meryl or move to fidelity.
Currently mid twenties, and trying to take financing more seriously and would really appreciate some insight on how to allocate my income into savings! Make about roughly 70k a year (post-tax, no pre-tax contributions). I spent about $3,350 a month (~40k a year on rent, car loan, bills etc), so I have about roughly 30k to save annually. Obviously putting 6k into roth ira, and I need help with insight on how to allocate he remaining 24k between Roth 401k, emergency fund, personal saving, etc.
I am actively looking for job change. I would be fit for the roles like- healthcare consultant, knowledge management, pre-sales analyst, business development, strategy planning. Please help with the same.
How do you manage multiple consulting job interviews? Big 4’s take time, and timing/getting the offers in time to make the best decision can be tricky.
Bit of a specific Q but thinking about applying to the CSR, but don’t want to get rejected. 1st year undergrad MBB salary, 15k student loans. Thanks!
CMT vs CAIA? I currently work in sales for an asset manager and have an MBA. Would like a designation, one that’s applicable to asset management and has some status/recognition. Appreciate any thoughts or insights. (Also dont want to take CFA)
Are all roles at MBB highly travel oriented?

Moss Adams people. What can you tell me about Matrix. Interviewed with an office for a senior position and one of the managers talked about Matrix. How you guys use that to upload the information into the tax software?
Random: what the heck is “auto hourly” wages?
Is it weird/rude to do work during a 2 hour hair appointment (instead of taking the PTO)?
What is so stressfull about consulting? Is it simply lack of managing client expectations?
Has anybody changed locations from SF or NY to a Lower COL city like Chicago during COVID (specifically in tech) and had their salary adjusted down? If so, how much was the decrease?

Anybody who successfully requested expedited EAD/AP processing? I will likely incur in a significant financial loss next year due to 6-9 months of unpaid leave while waiting for EAD. And obviously stuck in the country with no ability to travel internationally.
A month ago my boss told me I was getting a promotion and a raise. My raise was effective May 15th, and it has been reflected in my pay. He told me to keep it on the down low since there were no(cont)
U.K. based accountants, has anyone heard any rumours of firms adjusting the pay scales similar to what has been seen at all the banks? The turnover is so absurdly high it seems that something must have to give soon. I am getting approached for industry roles for 40% base increase + bonus. If practice salaries don’t increase this year I have no idea why anyone except the partners would want to stay.
Thoughts on switching from WITCH to Big 4? No title bump… but salary increase, prestige, etc
