The auto insurance also gave the estimate of $1500 to cover the repair of my car - cracks on the rear signal light, dents and scratches on the rear of the car. Should I take the check of $1000 (minus the $500 deductible)? My concern is the increase of the insurance premium down the road.

Industry vets - in your experience how recession proof is insurance? I was not yet in the job market last recession but I watched my mom get laid off and struggle to find employment during that time for the next 1.5 years.
