Senior assigns non-urgent diligence assignment last Friday. Junior spends probably 10 hours between Friday and Saturday on said assignment before sending it in for review.

Client decides they’d like it on Monday, and gunning senior decides to overpromise and say we will get it to them asap. Meanwhile, senior also does not review until Sunday night. Senior sends long list of non-substantive comments (formatting etc.) Monday morning with an ASAP deadline despite junior having many other deals.

I don’t understand - how do you know they reviewed Sat night if they didn’t send you comments until Mon morning? If comments are non substantive at least they shouldn’t take long to implement. I absolutely hate it when people overpromise to clients, but ignoring that part, it’s not always easy for seniors to review your work instantly as we’re usually working on more matters than the juniors and will have multiple work products to review.

SA1, I’m a recent lateral and don’t know anyone I’d trust well enough to fix it to his preferences. He’s extremely particular.

I did not do a bad job - I’m pretty type A myself and love a nice looking document - he just had particular preference. Which is fine when you communicate to me upfront, not hours before you want to send it to the client, creating a fake fire drill for me.

Many are wondering what’s wrong with ClearView. The problem is straightforward, if the way ClearView is organizing a project such that when one analyst or senior analyst (22 to 24 year old) fails at something, stakes are high enough that an project’s fate depends on it, then ClearView is putting way too much responsibility on its Junior staff, not promoting and severely underpaying them. I got lucky and now have leadership that seems to care about my career growth, but I'm 1. a little overwhelmed taking over a new role from someone who went on parental leave earlier than expected and 2. not used to thinking outside my day to day job, happy to keep my head down and just produce good work.

most of what I bring up in these meetings are logistical or prioritization concerns but I feel like my manager is expecting a lot more from me.

Advice needed. I’m leaving an incredibly toxic work environment (admin, students, parents, etc) for my dream job. I already resigned, but my students don’t know yet. I knew if I told them, their behavior would be even worse. How would you explain to the kids you’re leaving? I am a field marketer. I travel and cover 12 states. HQ is across the US on the east coast. My manager put a surprise calendar invite twice now to go to home office without consulting dates to see if we were available. I stood up and asked to be included on available dates and said I will attend virtually but asking me to be away for 4 additional full days away from my family without asking me is not OK. I already travel a lot and this boundary is super important to me. Am I right or wrong?

Everytime I work on the weekend I get into some sort of fight with my spouse. Anyone else get annoyed when their spouse constantly asks you when you’ll be done working, or asks how much longer you have to work. It annoys the hell out of me. I don’t want be working on a Sunday anymore than my spouse wants me to be working. But I have to. I don’t need reminded that I am disappointing my family in addition to working on the weekend. First, doing these interviews does not define you as a person.

Second, take it one day at a time; if they are moving forward, they see something in you.

So, I'm happy at my current job and have been there about 18 months. Our pay is probably 15% below market (AmLaw 100) but so are our billable requirements. An interview for another firm kind of fell into my lap, and I'm debating whether to take it just for the sake of seeing what market really is.
